About the role

The Hoa Umanga Hangarau Technology Business Partner – Z Energy will act as the strategic interface for Z to shape, prioritise, and deliver technology-enabled business value across the Z business. Offering a unique opportunity to influence every aspect of the technology environment for Z, this role will ensure alignment between business goals and innovative technology solutions. Working closely with Z Senior Leadership team, this role will shape demand, drive prioritisation, and foster trusted partnerships to shape roadmaps, drive digital transformation, and deliver measurable outcomes for the Z business.

You’ll take us further by:

  • Serve as a key strategic technology partner to Z, fostering deep alignment between technology direction and the commercial objectives of Z.
  • Build trusted relationships at the executive level, maintain ongoing visibility into Z strategy, and proactively identify opportunities where technology can unlock competitive advantage, enhance performance, and drive growth.
  • Provide strategic oversight to ensure technology solutions are user-centric, commercially viable, and tightly aligned with business objectives.
  • Champion a cross-functional approach that balances innovation with practical delivery, ensuring solutions meet both operational needs and long-term strategic goals.
  • Translate complex business needs into practical, scalable technology solutions, delivering commercial impact and enhancing efficiency.
  • Drive prioritisation and investment decisions that translate business vision into scalable, high-impact technology outcomes through robust business case development, ROI modelling, and benefits realisation frameworks.
  • Shape demand into structured needs with benefits, prioritising based on value and capacity, support the business cases and drive value realisation.

We’d love it if you have:

  • Proven business partnering experience in complex, multi-location or distributed operational environments.
  • Strong expertise in enterprise technology ecosystems, and digital technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate commercial and operational priorities into scalable, user-centric technology solutions
  • Experience shaping business demand into clear, actionable initiatives through business analysis, product management, or project delivery across varied industries
  • Proven ability to align technology initiatives with business strategy and deliver measurable outcomes, supported by strong commercial acumen and an understanding of ROI, trade-offs, and value realization
  • Experience in defining and delivering product and platform roadmaps that support strategic growth and operational excellence
  • Cross-functional leadership capability, with a history of building trusted partnerships with senior business and operations stakeholders and an ability to influence and advise at an executive level.
  • Strong background in systems integration, automation, and digital enablement to drive efficiency, resilience, and innovation
  • Ability to balance short-term tactical needs with long-term strategic vision in dynamic, high-growth environments
  • Deep understanding of how to leverage technology to improve customer experience, operational performance, and agility

The base salary range for this role is $191,000.00 to $235,500.00 per annum, plus 20% STI based on company performance, a 5% KiwiSaver employer contribution and health insurance through Southern Cross.

Ampol is an independent Australian company and the leader in transport fuels in Australia and, through its acquisition of Z Energy, in New Zealand.

We supply Australia's largest branded petrol and convenience network as well as refining, importing and marketing fuels and lubricants. As the energy transition progresses, we are building out our electric vehicle (EV) on-the-go public charging networks in Australia and NZ. We have a deep history spanning over 120 years and are listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and New Zealand Exchange (NZX).

Ampol supplies fuel to more than 110,000 business and SME customers in diverse sectors across the Australian and NZ economies, including mining, transport, marine, agriculture, aviation and other commercial and industrial sectors. This includes our Trading and Shipping business that operates out of Singapore and Houston in the USA, and our international storage positions across the Asia Pacific region and North America. Ampol also owns a 20% equity interest in Seaoil, a leading independent fuel company in the Philippines.
