Our Bakery Applications Team brings our purpose to life by developing innovative solutions for the baking industry and partnering closely with Sales, Procurement, Operations, R&D, and Business Development to meet evolving customer and market needs.

We are hiring a Technologist V to join this collaborative team. In this role, you will manage your own bakery and non-bakery application projects while also supporting teammates on key initiatives. You will apply your formulation experience to develop and improve products, troubleshoot challenges, and identify efficiencies that help deliver practical, customer-focused solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support innovation projects including but not limited to new product development, and procurement & operation support projects.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Sales, Procurement, Operations, and Business Development to achieve project objectives.
• Lead and/or support new sample preparation for R&D, customers and Sales in a timely manner.
• Report/discuss project status, technical updates and other critical information with peers and R&D management.
• Support prototype development, plant trials, and commercialization activities for new and improved products.
• Establish, document and maintain specifications for new products based on lab development and plant trials.
• Cultivate a team atmosphere with peer groups and upper management.
• Maintain clean, organized, safe and work-ready lab environment.
• Be flexible in taking additional tasks as needed to support company's business goals.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

• Bachelor degree in Bakery Science, Food Science, Cereal Chemistry, or related fields. AIB, or CMB a plus, but not required.
• 2+years technical experience/development work within the food industry preferred.
• Basic formulation and industrial processing knowledge relating to bakery products.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
• Able to work independently to complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences concerning technical and business needs.
• Must have problem solving skills.
• Capable of self-management and multiple project/task management.
• Self-starting attitude.
• Possess a general understanding of bake lab analytical equipment.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 55 pound boxes or bags of material.
• Occasional overnight travel

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Postural changes such as sitting, reaching, climbing, standing, walking, ascending/descending ladders or stairs, and lifting occasionally.
• Occasionally operates computer, other office equipment, pilot lab production equipment, baking equipment, etc.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position such as sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 55 pound boxes or bags of material.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
• The ability to observe details at close range.
• Exposures encountered such as dusty environment, hazardous materials, loud noise, low or high temperatures, office, plant, warehouse, lab, and outdoor exposure.
• Maybe required to come in early or stay late at times.

Our offer

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $87,000. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type years of and experience within the industry, education, etc. Please note, Corbion is a multi-state employer and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations.
