Under the authority of the Head of Technical Services, and reporting to the Automation Head of Department, the Automation Lead Operator is called upon to:
Take the lead role in the creation of new shows, acts and images as requested by the artistic team, productions, and events at the Studios.
Lead and support the Automation team members with operations pertaining to the operation of automation equipment.
Analyze, plan, and prepare for incoming Automation programming requests and major operating demands such as productions, workshops, etc.
In coordination with the Automation Assistant Head of Department, assist the Automation Head of Department to develop, update and implement new and existing procedures and guidelines related to programming and operation of Automation equipment, in an ongoing effort to improve and ensure safe and efficient practices.
Take a leadership role in the training process of new and existing operators at the studio according to applicable procedures and guidelines.
Carry out and document the installation and inspection of Automation Equipment according to existing procedures and accepted studio practices.
Ensure that technicians and users comply with established procedures, standards, and rules (human resources, health and safety and others) relating to the use of technical equipment and studio spaces.
Ensure that the team respects the schedule of activities and the schedules of training and artistic and technical work taking place at the Studio.
Ensure the respect and cleanliness of the infrastructure and technical equipment in its department.
Participate as required in other activities related to his/her department and assist with interdepartmental tasks as needed.
Maintain a professional relationship with specialists in your field of expertise.
Update the technical documentation necessary for the operations of his/her line of activity.
YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE
College diploma (or equivalent) in show production, theatre production (or equivalent work experience).
Five years of Automation experience at CDS.
General understanding of all technical aspects of a show.
Knowledge and experience in all elements of an automation system: electrical, mechanical, networking and software applications.
Flexibility, autonomy, and team spirit.
Ability to coordinate and provide leadership to a work team.
Effective communication, organizational and planning skills.
Ability to adapt to the unexpected and work under pressure.
Ability to work in a team and strong sense of customer service.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications in the Windows environment.
Fluency in spoken and written French and English.
Availability to work variable work schedules.
Working at Heights Ability (Working at Heights certification required).
