The Technician Water Quality Maintenance will operate and maintain water systems and other alternatives such as water softener and pool systems.Position DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities
TechnicalPrimarily responsible for the safe operation of water softeners in district owned and operated facilities Deliver salt to water softener as needed Test water hardness at all water softener locations Respond to emergency calls relating to malfunctioning equipment and water conditions Operate power equipment according to MFG and safety guidelines Assist Cooling Tower Technicians as needed Assist Natatorium Manager in the maintenance of natatorium water quality equipment Safety and InspectionExamine water quality at district owned facilities on a regular basis for purpose of preventative maintenance and safetyReport any situation that may prove to be a safety hazard to anyone in a building or on campus groundsReport any conditions which could cause illness or injuriesAdministrativeOrder materials and make recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchaseKeep track concerning total of time, materials and labor on each work order and job assignmentComplete work orders in a timely mannerKeep records and prepares reports of work accomplished and cost of materials and labor

Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
Additional InformationWork is performed both inside and outside school district building and facilities, and often requires working unusual hours and may be designated for 24 hour on-call. Employee is exposed to a wide range of climatic conditions, dust, flammable or toxic chemicals, and loud noise. Employee is also exposed to potential electrical shock and other physical hazards when working on electronic components and systems, operating tools and equipment and working in high places or cramped spaces. Work requires vision necessary to determine color differences. Employee is required to wear and use safety clothing and equipment and to comply with safety policies and procedures. Must be able to handle stressful situations as necessary. Must adhere to all guidelines set forth on Material Safety Data Sheets when handling chemicals. Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely.
