Job Description

1. JOB PURPOSE:

To service and maintain all Casting and Furnace equipment/tooling used in the production of all Cast House products in the Recycling Cast House.

2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Day-to-Day Operations:

• Receives daily instructions the supervisor with regards to the priority and action required. Refers to the standard practices manuals and complies with the safety standards in accordance with the established safety procedure.
• Carries out overhauling and repairs of any casting tooling related to VDC, and other related equipment. Oversees that these are calibrated / tested before issuance to casting operations and made available as per production schedule

• Calibrates and conducts tests on individual mould table parts and rectifies problems to put the tooling in perfect condition.
• Prepares / refurbishes used moulds and conducts thorough inspection and evaluation of the condition of all functional parts. Rectifies problems and repairs major parts, including the mould body that saves substantial cost and downtimes.
• Assists casting operations and maintenance crew in troubleshooting and rectifies problems in casting tooling used in process.
• Monitors Argon and nitrogen supply to the casting units and attends to rectify problems in mixing room.
• Monitors the operation of the Argon, Chlorine and Nitrogen supply system in the VDC casting centre
• Monitors and replaces rotors in the degassing units.
• Prepares and relines degassing vessels.
• Checks and provides consumables and alloy hardeners for use in casting operations.
• Records all activities done on the casting tooling, launders, and degasser vessels for maintaining a good history.
• Contributes in maintaining 5S in CTS workshops.

3. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of Twelfth (12th) grade High School Certificate or equivalent
• Successful completion of PEC Smelter training programme for UAE Nationals

Minimum Experience:

• Complete a minimum of six (6) months as Operator
• Two (2) years’ industrial work experience

• Hazard Identification & Reporting
• Possession of minimum Forklift licence category 8
• Casting tooling maintenance knowledge
• Refractory and Furnace tooling maintenance knowledge
• In line metal treatment units maintenance and handling
