The Opportunity

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position.

The Technician Satellite Operations plays a key role in the functioning of the Southern Positioning Augmentation Network (SPAN) and Transfer Orbits. This is multi-faceted role covering technical. logistics and maintenance tasks, which contribute to the effective functioning of the Southern Positioning Augmentation Network and its related systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the SPAN Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) effort.
  • Provide technical maintenance and troubleshooting of GNSS reference stations and associated equipment.
  • Support systems improvements, upgrades and technical activities.
  • Conduct facility maintenance and site support as required.
  • Perform testing, calibration, diagnosis, adjustments and component replacement using technical documentation and test equipment.
  • Record maintenance activities, test results and technical data.

Qualifications and Experience needed:

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Radio, Communications, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or an equivalent discipline.
  • Experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting or support of electronic, electrical, communications or computer-based systems.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, engineering drawings and technical instructions.
  • Experience using test and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience in a technical field, maintenance or operational environment is desirable.
