Job Description

The Respiratory Technician initiates the assembly, testing, and delivery of all Respiratory Care medical equipment, supplies, devices, and consumables. S/he ensures that consumables are ordered and restocked in a timely manner, and along with medical equipment and are made available and placed for efficiency of access for staff and patients.

S/he demonstrates professionalism in the services affecting planning and delivery of patient care at all times.

The Respiratory Technician may possess novice knowledge of pediatric and/or neonatal cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology. S/he may have novice knowledge and clinical acumen in the use of some medical devices and techniques used in respiratory therapy for the pediatric and/or neonatal population.S/he may demonstrate the knowledge and skills relevant for patient assessment and administration of low-acuity clinical therapeutic care.

The Respiratory Technician is responsible for ensuring that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.

• Collaborates with clinical Respiratory Therapy staff and Leadership, representatives of Supply Chain, Sterile Processing and Biomedical Engineering to ensure that all medical devices, stock and supplies are available for patient care.
• Under the direction of the Respiratory Therapy Services Leadership, prepares and assembles medical devices for safety check.
• Regularly updates the Respiratory Leadership team regarding any issues with equipment and consumables, or any delays in ordering or restocking equipment and consumables.
• Participates in the assembly, cataloging, mobilizing, and quality testing, of Respiratory Services medical devices.
• Maintains stock and delivers medical devices to clinical areas as required for patient use.
• Ensures the performance of routine departmental equipment and analyses the equipment to ensure quality and safety is maintained.
• Organizes and monitors supply areas in a safe and efficient manner.
• Participates in quality improvement planning in relation to equipment and stock management systems.
• Tracks normal and high priority Health Devices Alerts from ECRI and FDA and refers applicable medical device reports to Manager - Respiratory Services.
• Under the direction of the clinical Respiratory Therapy staff, provides clinical patient assessments including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining up to date mandatory Life Support Training requirements as directed by MoPH and Sidra (e.g., BLS, AED etc.)
• Integrates ethical considerations and processes in all areas of responsibility.
• Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

ESSENTIAL

Education

Diploma in Relevant Medical Field

Experience

• 2+ years of relevant experience as a Respiratory Technician or equivalent exposure to dealing with and/or maintaining medical equipment.

Certification and Licensure

• Licensed in Country of Origin as a Respiratory Technician or in another relevant medical profession.
• Eligible for licensure with the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners
• Demonstrated technical ability in relevant field.
• Demonstrated ability to use search engines and databases for internet research.
• Demonstrated experience working with Respiratory Staff services.
• Demonstrated Supply chain monitoring experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Fluency in written and spoken English
