Job Description

Job Location: CTC Global - Irvine, CA 92614
Salary Range: $26.00 - $32.00 Hourly

SUMMARY:
Sets-up and operates/runs pultrusion machines for the development of new composite rods, and performs inspections, tests, and gathers data on composite core, conductor, hardware, etc. for the development of new tests or procedures, product characterization, or to determine conformance to accepted specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setup and operate all Pilot Lab equipment in an efficient manner without supervision.
- Monitoring and documenting measurements and observations. Notifying run leaders of any discrepancies.
- Tear down and cleanup of R&D machines; thoroughly clean the backbone, wet out systems, and other components.
- Manage the maintenance and repair of Pilot Lab equipment without supervision.
- Prepare resin mixes according to instructions without supervision.
- Label and store core. Submit core samples to Test Lab as needed.
- Handling and disposal of chemical waste and old core.
- Assist in assignments outside of the Pilot Lab. Assignments can include performing core testing in the Test Lab.
- Manages raw material such as glass and carbon fibers, epoxy resin and hardener.
- Use of small/large hand tools as required.
- Comply with safety and operating policies and procedures regarding equipment, materials, and the finished product.
- Maintain good work place organization and housekeeping.
- Instructs junior coworkers.
- Properly document all work on appropriate forms.
- Organizing data and records in Excel spreadsheets.
- Maintaining a lab notebook if required.

- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to speak and read English effectively.
- Good technical skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret gauges and record measurements.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, material safety data sheets (SDS), operating and maintenance instructions, and any relevant manuals.
- Ability to stoop and bend.
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hour shift.
- Use of hands and arms to lift, handle, pour, clean, install, and position materials and tools/machinery, and to otherwise manipulate things.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Needs to be able to organize and maintain a clean work environment.
- Knowledge of raw materials and handling.
- Requires understanding of basic computer skills and programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, along with operational knowledge of testing equipment.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Experience in chemistry or mechanical testing a plus.
- Ability to take instructions and learn new processes and procedures.
- Ability to think independently and to innovate.
- Ability to work safely.
- Ability to work in a group as well as independently.
