Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for testing and inspecting products throughout the production process to ensure they meet established quality, reliability, design, and customer requirements. This position collects, analyzes, and documents quality data, identifies nonconformities, supports corrective actions, and helps maintain effective quality standards throughout production.

The Quality Assurance Technician works closely with Quality Engineers, other QA Technicians, Operations, Engineering, and production personnel to establish open and trusting working relationships that promote collaboration, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Blueprint & Technical Interpretation: Ensure machinists and production team members correctly interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and tolerances to meet design requirements.
  • Measuring & Testing: Perform and oversee the use of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment, to verify that finished products meet required specifications and tolerances.
  • Quality Control & Assurance: Implement and maintain quality standards and specifications throughout production. Inspect products, document discrepancies and nonconformities, and support corrective and preventive actions to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Quality Data & Documentation: Collect, record, and analyze quality data to identify trends, determine areas for improvement, and support informed production and quality decisions.
  • Team Leadership & Influence: Provide guidance, coaching, and support to production teams while promoting accountability, teamwork, and a strong quality culture.
  • Problem-Solving: Apply analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of quality, equipment, and production issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for Lean practices, process optimization, efficiency improvements, waste reduction, and improved first-time quality.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promote a safe, clean, organized, and compliant work environment by following and reinforcing company safety procedures, quality standards, and applicable requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and production leadership to resolve issues, improve processes, align production activities with business objectives, and promote a culture of accountability and excellence.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Quality Focus: Experience establishing, maintaining, and improving QA/QC processes, inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Inspection & Measurement: Proficiency using precision measurement tools and inspection equipment to verify product quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence, mentor, and support production teams while driving accountability and results.
  • Mathematical Proficiency: Strong shop math skills and the ability to perform precision calculations required for machining, inspection, and quality verification.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills for equipment, production, and quality challenges.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Ability to develop effective working relationships and communicate clearly with Quality, Engineering, Operations, and production personnel.
  • Continuous Improvement: Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and the ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall manufacturing performance.
