As a Facility Technician at GFL Environmental Services, you’ll play a hands-on role in managing, organizing, and processing both hazardous and non-hazardous materials while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Using a strong understanding of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations and familiarity with our site specific ECA, you will ensure that all materials are properly handled, labelled, and stored in full compliance with environmental and safety standards.
You’ll be the driving force behind maintaining facility cleanliness, supporting waste segregation, and assisting with shipments- all while demonstrating a proactive attitude towards safety and teamwork. This position is based at Coniston, Ontario with typical hours of work from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and overtime as required.
Key Responsibilities:
·Load/unload liquid waste
·Visually inspect incoming waste to screen of materials
·Monitor offloads (internal or third-party), track, and verify waste.
·Build outbound loads
·Maintain and monitor pit levels.
·Report/ repair noncompliance observations (storage, containers, labels, etc.)
·Assist with waste tracking (tracking numbers, receiving numbers, and outbound load correspond with shipping orders).
·Operating and maintaining tank farm.
·Creating bill of lading(s)
·Ensures GFL guests are signing in/out when visiting the facility
·Maintain housekeeping for the facility compound and loading dock.
·Wash trucks, tankers, and various pieces of equipment.
·Taking inventory of containers on site.
Requirements:
·Strong understanding in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations.
·Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team and effective communication skills.
·Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
·Comfortable working outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions.
Working Conditions:
Must work inside and/or outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. May be exposed to unpleasant sights, smells, and to dangerous and/or toxic substance.

•Walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling
•Work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc.
•Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
