Responsible for performing advance technical work and related activities associated with the planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance, and operation of Company equipment and facilities.

What you’ll do:

  • Build complete construction work order packets for distribution underground network customer projects, from design intake through crew ready release
  • Partner with distribution underground network engineers to convert engineering intent into clear, buildable field packages that reduce rework and field questions
  • Serve as the primary funnel point for design and construction steps across underground network customer projects, keeping work moving end to end
  • Manage project execution details to meet committed in service dates by tracking milestones, dependencies, and constraints
  • Maintain strong project management discipline by organizing tasks, driving action items to closure, and escalating risks early
  • Respond to customer and internal requests with urgency and professionalism, providing timely updates and strong customer experience
  • Apply advanced underground field knowledge to validate constructability in dense urban environments, including duct systems, manholes, access constraints, and phased construction needs
  • Identify job site risks and practical limitations by reviewing existing conditions, drawings, and field information, then recommending workable solutions
  • Demonstrate advanced technical proficiency and unique knowledge to help the team select effective courses of action and solve complex technical problems
  • Perform technical calculations and apply strong math fundamentals to support safe, accurate, and reliable work packages
  • Select and verify correct material items and compatible units to ensure the work package matches standards, inventory requirements, and crew installation practices
  • Use work management software proficiently, learn new tools quickly and maintain data quality across systems
  • Lead and coordinate work activities within the work group as needed, including facilitating handoffs between engineering, construction, planning, and external stakeholders
  • Assume project manager responsibilities for assigned tasks, coordinating scope, schedule, and deliverables with minimal oversight
  • Review planned work of others when assigned, providing quality checks, constructability feedback, and recommendations that improve outcomes
  • Organize and lead special projects or task forces as assigned, working effectively across team-oriented groups
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving and initiative by proposing creative, practical solutions and encouraging continuous improvement
  • Communicate technical issues clearly and credibly through strong written documentation, effective presentations when needed, and consistent day to day coordination
  • Promote a collaborative work environment that values the combined skills of the team and strengthens shared understanding
  • Make technical decisions using calculated risk judgment with little or no management review, while recognizing downstream impacts to customers and field execution
  • Show business awareness by understanding how technical choices affect cost, schedule, safety, reliability, and customer relationships

What we’re looking for:

Technician SG7

Education/Experience

  • Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/ Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields, with a minimum of 6 years of related utility industry work experience.
  • OR High school diploma or GED, with a minimum of 8 years of related utility industry work experience, including experience in work activities and projects requiring technical engineering knowledge.
  • Meets expectations of a Technician Senior level.
  • Valid Driver’s license

In addition:

Physical Demands - technician must be able to:

  • Work in both office and field environments, including frequent visits to active construction sites in urban areas
  • Walk, stand, and navigate uneven terrain, job sites, vaults, and right of way areas for extended periods
  • Enter and inspect underground structures such as manholes and vaults (in accordance with safety and enclosed space requirements)
  • Lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment
  • Climb ladders and access below grade structures as needed to support inspections and constructability reviews
  • Work in varying weather conditions while performing field assessments and supporting construction activities
  • Maintain situational awareness and adhere to all safety practices when working near energized electrical equipment and active construction zones

Compensation Range:

$42.13 - $52.67

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: L – Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 12 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5-6 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) When it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time, but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg c ontrols; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible
