Position: Building Maintenance Technician
Department: Building Maintenance
Reporting Structure: Reports to Building Maintenance Manager
Reporting to this position: No direct reports

BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for performing general building maintenance and basic general repair of machinery and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, machinery, and industrial equipment (forklifts, power jacks etc.)
• Maintain all aspects of building maintenance such as lighting, HVAC, air compressors, chillers, boilers, plumbing, cleaning, painting, and light carpentry.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of mixers, pumps, tanks, piping, and Manufacturing/Production support systems.
• Maintain logbooks and scheduled maintenance checklists.
• Maintain and monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and materials.
• Identify and resolve building maintenance, equipment repairs and safety issues and follow through to completion.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Must have basic English oral, written and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of power tools and machine shop equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to make required repairs.
• Basic Math skills required.
• Mechanical skills and prior experience in maintenance functions.
• Skilled in preventive maintenance measures and trouble shooting.
• Organized and efficient in time management skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently on assigned projects.
• Ability to professionally interact with outside maintenance contractors when required.
• Capable of following all required SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and safety programs.

• Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk (for several hours of the workday) and use hands to handle objects, tools and controls, reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employees may be required to move or lift objects exceeding 35 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.

EDUCATION / TRAINING

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum of 5-7 years of general machine and building maintenance. A combination of vocational training, education and experience that is equivalent to the employment standards listed above and provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

This position is classified non-exempt.
