What You'll Do:

  • L1 (Apprentice)
    • Under the direction L2 or L3 technicians: Assists with and or performs all functions of the L2 (Journeyman) and L3 (Master or Multi-Skilled) level position.
    • Performs annual District-wide playground equipment safety inspection to monitor compliance with Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool requirements, and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) Playground Standards.
    • Installs different types playground, play and athletic equipment in accordance with the CPSC guidelines and related athletic sport rules of play.
    • Installs, repairs, and maintains playgrounds, play areas and courts, support equipment
    • Performs minor welding repair and maintenance.
    • Communicates and coordinates with staff at work site and with other shop staff.
    • Diagnoses repairs; modifies and performs repairs using blueprints; and considering playground safety codes.
    • Prepares and cleans up job site, taking into consideration safety concerns of self and others, and disposes of waste and flammable materials.
    • Reviews work orders, prioritizes, and determine supplies for repair and purchases supplies using District purchase order system.
    • Performs work and cross trains in at least one other trade as an apprentice.
    • Assists with snow removal efforts on a 24 hour on-call basis.
    • Responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


What You’ll Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License and meet District insurability standards. Must have the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Must hold/obtain and maintain a certification as a Certified Playground inspector from the National Playground Safety Association (NPSA). Certification in several types of industrial welding to include oxy-acetylene and AC/DC arc welding, preferred.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
