The Technician - Electrical creates, maintains, and repairs the electronic components, instrumentation on equipment and devices used on site or devices
that involves electricity to keep machinery and specialty equipment running correctly. He/She does this in accordance with the ORICA prescribed
maintenance strategy and maintenance execution systems.
Consulting the operators and completing work orders to ensure the ongoing reliability of the site assets.
Preparing work plans including risk assessments and permits after fully scoping out the issues.
Fault finding on mobile and fixed assets and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
Inspecting electrical, electronic, instrumentation and PLC systems, diagnosis of errors and corrections.
Repairing or replacing faulty components within the processes of the ORICA maintenance execution system including the population of job cards,
work orders and obtaining spares as required from the stores or approved vendors.
Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
Testing repaired equipment to gauge its performance
Maintaining records of assets and parts inventory in site files as required by the maintenance execution system.
Replacement and consumption of spares parts in line with ORICA materials management
Work alongside the Asset Care Supervisor/Lead to develop asset care solutions that cost effectively support long term asset operations
Ensuring work practices and environment comply with SHES (Safety, Health, Environmental & Security) standards
Trade certificate in Process Instrumentation and Control/ electrical / electronic or mechatronics issued by an accredited institution & authority
Minimum 7 yrs experience in field instrumentation and control, preferably in the mining industry and or chemicals industry
3 years of maintenance experience on Siemens PLC and siemens wonderware/panelview System Platform automation systems. Familiarity with VSDs and
field instruments as well as PID loops
Valid Driver’s license
SAP experience
Physically fit – site deployment will include ability and medical clearance to work at heights, confined spaces and underground
No direct reports
Management of vendors, specailist contractors for supply of parts and service as needed.
Stand in as maintenance foreman from time to time including legal appoitnment in line with your position and seniority.
