About this Role

At Ampacity, the Technician II role is where you take full ownership of the commissioning process. You'll work independently across project sites, troubleshoot complex tracker and electrical issues, and interface directly with customers. The work is technically demanding and no two sites are the same. For technicians ready to sharpen their skills, take on more responsibility, and begin developing others, this is the next step. Pay Range: $35.00 - $40.00

What You'll Do

  • Independently lead commissioning activities on completed solar projects
  • Conduct and document blueprint-to-installation compliance reviews
  • Perform in-field retrofits, modifications, and corrective actions
  • Troubleshoot faulting trackers remotely and on-site, communicating findings directly to customers
  • Carry out scheduled and reactive service repairs
  • Identify and report installation discrepancies and provide feedback to improve future installations
  • Mentor and support Technician I team members in the field
  • Process all documentation and submittals in line with Ampacity SOPs

What You'll Bring

  • 2-4 years of experience in solar commissioning, field service, or a related electrical/mechanical field
  • Solid working knowledge of solar tracking systems and operating tolerances
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and blueprints
  • Intermediate troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Clear and professional communication with customers and internal teams
  • Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple project sites
  • Valid driver's license with a clean MVR and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time

Typical Work Environment

  • Active solar construction sites with heavy machinery, power tools, and construction equipment in operation.
  • 100% outdoor work environment subject to extreme weather conditions including snow and high heat, with exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and uneven terrain.
  • Work at various heights requiring fall protection equipment.
  • Position may require unexpected travel and relocation to project sites with short notice.

Physical Expectations

  • This work is physically demanding in nature and requires constant lifting of 30 – 50 pounds, unassisted, with lifts of 50+ pounds requiring assistance.
  • Working schedule will be 8 – 10 hours a day and 5 – 6 days a week (weather permitting).
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods while operating tools and equipment safely.
  • Must be able to participate in required training hours as assigned.

What You'll Get

  • Competitive pay and 401k — because your work should be rewarded fairly
  • Time off you'll actually use: vacation, sick days, holidays, parental, and bereavement leave
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus extra support when you need it
  • Wellness resources to help you show up as your best self, at work and at home
  • Real room to grow — we promote from within and invest in your development
