The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual to join our Processing Department as Technician – Gold Room.

About the role

We are currently seeking highly skilled Gold Room Technician with over 5 years’ experience to join our team in the Processing Plant who will be primarily involved in the operation of the gold room. Additional experience with driving twin steers would be an advantage for pick up of the Knelson Concentrates and delivery to the Gold Room. You will be directly responsible to support the Gold Room Operations by participating in routine activities. This includes monitoring and controlling the flow of materials, stripping of electro winning cells, retorting, smelting and preparations for bullion shipment.

In this role, you will

• Ensure timely and efficient collection and delivery of the Knelson Concentrates from the SAG Milling circuit to the Refinery circuit for processing in the gold room
• Fully participate in all Gold Room activities and completing tasks as allocated by the Gold Room Supervisors
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and Gold Security Standards (GSS)
• Collaborate with Gold Room Supervisors, Metallurgists, Operational leadership team and APD to ensure effective communications established to avoid any delays to collection, transportation of the Knelson Concentrates to the Gold Room
• Maintain accuracy of all bullion logs and work with Metallurgist and Finance team to prepare shipment logsheets for dispatching to refinery offsite
• Conduct without fail pre-start checks on the Knelson Concentrate Truck and ensure any faults or issues identified are reported immediately to Supervisor to ensure truck is available and safe to operate continuously
• Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and communications across all work groups
• Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health rules and procedures

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current license and competent for operating heavy duty trucks preferably twin steers or Mack/Kenworth trucks

• Valid Police Clearance that is current and must have no criminal records

• Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Willingness to work in remote locations and adapt to changing work requirements and working long hours as required

Mobilization Requirement

This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
