
The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. ISGlobal is seeking a full-time TECHNICIAN who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project “Molecular basis of the bacterial resistance to antibiotics: design of new diagnostic tools”.
The overall project goal is to continue developing the main research lines of the group: molecular basis of the antibacterial resistance, pathogenesis and design of new tools for diagnostic and treatment of bacterial diseases.
The activities in which the TECHNICIAN will be involved related to the Project will be:
- Collect and analyse the samples in order to validate new diagnostic tools.
- Develop and set up new diagnostic techniques for bacterial infectious diseases.
The tasks will be developed in the Microbiology Department at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and at the research laboratory of Dr. Jordi Vila’s group at Centre Esther Koplowitz (CEK).
The key responsibility of the candidate will be to participate in the diagnosis research line of the research group and to develop new techniques performed in our laboratory.
The duties will consist of ensuring the correct development and validation of new diagnostic tools regarding bacterial infectious diseases.

Biosciences degree. Previous laboratory experience in the microbiology field. Experience in antimicrobial resistance will be highly appreciated.
Proficiency in Catalan, English, and Spanish.
Contract: 3 months
Salary: October 2026
Work-Life Balance: 36 days off per year (23 vacation days + 13 personal days)
Start date: 27.119€ gross annual

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
