An extensive suite of enhanced 3-D design tools and modeling software allow our engineering team to visualize all aspects of plant development.

To perform the role of technician within the Extractive Metallurgy department. The responsibilities and authorities of the technician in the department in relation to post requirements are outlined

  • Perform routine and non-routine tests following established procedures and/or modify procedures to accomplish the assigned tasks.
  • Complete tasks within the allocated time and plan work for operators and senior operators to ensure that the overall service goals of the company are met.
  • Responsible for carrying out the required test work unsupervised.
  • Responsible for preparing accurate logsheets and perform quality checks on test work data
  • Required to prepare presentations of test work data, prepare project update reports with the assistance of the project manager
  • Ensure housekeeping in the allocated work area
  • Responsible for submission of samples for analysis – including filling in the submission forms.
  • Responsible for reporting any infringements or non-compliances by any other laboratory staff member with respect to allocated work, punctuality, or any other misdemeanor to the metallurgist or HOD.
  • Responsible to bring all problems (technical and managerial) to the attention of the metallurgist or HOD.
  • Give training and direction to operators and senior operators with respect to quality, testwork methodology and health and safety.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.

SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES

  • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
  • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
  • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Tertiary education, including math and science background.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in similar field

Competencies

  • Able to follow written instruction to the finest detail.
  • Good communication skills
