Job Description

Basic Job Functions:

  • Assist in the installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues, identify improvements projects to support throughput, yield and product performance goals. Perform Preventive, Predictive & Repair Maintenance activities for all manufacturing production tools such as electrical systems, motors, vacuum pumps, conveyors, Robots and material handling machines.
  • Ensure assigned PM Job Plans and Work Orders from CMMS system are carried out timely and comply with PM requirements.
  • Work closely with area Engineers and Supervisors to support MA and OE initiatives.

Experience:

  • Industrial experience in Automation / Pick and Place machine/ Assembly Line /Lamination process /Roll Coating / High Pressure Dispensing equipment preferable.
  • Prior working experience in large Multinational Corporations. Familiar with FMEA and SPC is an added advantage.

Education:

  • Technical Disciplines in one of the following fields – Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Chemical, Materials Science or Applied Physics.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 1 year experience as First Solar Manufacturing Engineering Technician II or 8 years technical experience in a Manufacturing setting or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 1 year experience as First Solar Manufacturing Engineering Technician II
  • Bachelor or College degree in a technical discipline with 3 years technical experience in a Manufacturing setting

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Safety first mindset.
  • General electrical/electronic and mechanical knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills and fosters teamwork with operation team.
  • Self-initiate, ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to communicate in English both spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical, Vacuum Systems and Robotic
  • Structured problem-solving applications such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, 7 steps
  • Strong data analytical skill ( JMP, Six Sigma or SPC )
  • Good presentation skill
  • TOC concept
  • MTTR & MTBF analysis

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Solve day-to-day production equipment and process problems to achieve daily Output and Yield
  • Update Shift Report on tool performance including Safety, Quality, Output, Plan/unplan downtime summary, KPI/KPO requirement and actions taken.
  • Reduce alarm rate to improve machine availability and Operation Efficiency
  • Execute PM as outlined in JP.
  • Identify opportunities to improve yield and productivity.
  • Set up and maintain all measuring instruments.
  • Ensure all processes are running on target as defined in Control Plan.
  • Respond to SPC alarms and bring the process back to control limits.
  • Initiate and support improvement projects for cost saving and productivity.
  • Provide training to production associates.
  • Develop and update internal documentation including drawings, standard operating procedures, and process specifications.
  • Interface with internal associates and supplier representatives, as required, to complete assigned projects.
  • Good communication skills with production associates and manufacturing engineers.
  • Disposition of non-conforming product (NCP)
  • Adhere to all LOTO procedures and maintain tools safety features in tip top condition.
  • Ensure waste materials are discarded in designated containers.
  • Hazardous waste containers are always closed.

Travel:

  • Domestic and International travel as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to entire duration of a shift.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will exert up to 23Kg of force to lift, push or pull on a seldom basis.
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 13Kg on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
  • All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair)
