Job Description

Validation & Engineering Group, Inc. (V&EG) a Pinnaql company is a leading services supplier who provides solutions for the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Chemical, Food, and Medical Devices industries in the following areas: Laboratory, Compliance, Computer, Engineering, Project Management, Validation, and other services.

We are seeking a talented, dedicated individual committed to work under the highest ethics standards for the following position:

  • Technician, Electronic Instrument III

Provides corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, calibration, programming, configuration, and repair services to manufacturing equipment, packaging equipment, instruments, systems, controls, supporting utilities, and/or equipment that perform, measure, and control industrial manufacturing processes at different stages of production. Applies mathematical knowledge and concepts of physics, electronics, and mechanics while following written policies and procedures and complying with applicable industry regulations, operational manuals, specifications, and drawings. Maintains a high degree of reliability in a safe and efficient manner and complies with the specifications and laws that govern the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Dismantle and assemble equipment; remove and replace instrument, electrical, control, and mechanical defective parts. Make changes in production equipment, facilities, utilities, or other equipment used in production areas to improve process performance. Provide troubleshooting and maintenance of controls, instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
  • Read, interpret, and use drawings, electrical and control circuit diagrams, including P&ID and ladder diagrams, equipment manuals, and schematic manuals when performing control, mechanical, and electrical work.
  • Provide support on troubleshooting PLCs and control devices for process and manufacturing equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in multiple skilled trade disciplines, including Predictive Maintenance Technologies, and support Reliability Engineering on RCMs and RCAs.
  • Repair, inspect, modify, and calibrate instrumentation equipment and perform preventive and corrective maintenance used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products while maintaining a high degree of reliability in a safe and efficient manner. Calibrate and certify instruments used in manufacturing and operational processes.
  • Certify the proper functioning of instrumentation used for process control and manufacturing operations. Perform tasks according to calibration schedules, approved procedures, and established methods.
  • Properly document calibrations performed using approved forms and procedures, including Calibration Work Orders, Out-of-Tolerance Reports, and Repetitive Out-of-Tolerance Reports. Perform corrective repairs, inspections, problem analysis, and corrective actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Carry out preventive, predictive, corrective, and calibration maintenance activities while observing and complying with applicable safety procedures. Identify unsafe conditions, recommend improvements, and document activities according to applicable procedures and CMMS requirements.
  • Comply with plant procedures and applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Attend and complete required environmental, health, safety, and cGMP training. Use required protective equipment and report incidents or unsafe conditions.
  • Provide technical support and perform work during emergency situations, outside regular working hours, on holidays, weekends, or when required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology of Industrial Instrumentation, Industrial Mechanics, Electronics, or Electronic Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Electrical/Electronic systems, PLCs, Controls, Instrumentation/Calibration, basic HVAC, and Utilities. Experience in repair and programming of electronic or electro-pneumatic systems, analytical equipment, and high-technology manufacturing equipment at the industrial level.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Industrial Mechanics, HVAC, and/or Utilities, including repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-pneumatic systems.
  • Puerto Rico Electrician’s License preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and maintenance skills in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, controls, and calibration systems.
  • Experience interpreting electrical drawings, control diagrams, P&IDs, ladder diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of predictive, preventive, corrective, and calibration maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of cGMP requirements, safety regulations, and industrial maintenance practices.
  • Ability to support manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations functions.
  • Experience Level: 5–7+ years.
