
Technician (DC High Voltage Battery Systems)
Responsible for the safe and efficient commissioning, maintenance/repair, testing, and troubleshooting of DC power systems (high voltage) and large-scale battery banks.
The role requires meticulous adherence to safety regulations and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning: New DC power systems and battery banks, including wiring, power cable terminations, and grounding, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and execute corrective repairs on high voltage DC equipment, including rectifiers, inverters, chargers, and associated control circuits.
Testing & Diagnostics: Conduct comprehensive battery testing methods, such as capacity, impedance, and load testing, using specialized equipment (e.g., multimeters. Etc.) to evaluate system performance.
Safety & Compliance: Strictly follow operational, maintenance, and emergency methods of procedure (MOPs), including all OSHA and site-specific safety regulations when working with high-energy DC systems.
Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical documentation, complete reports, and maintain accurate records of all service activities, test results, and equipment performance.
Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with the sales team, engineers and other technicians to meet project deadlines and ensure uninterrupted system operations.
Logistics & Equipment: Safely handle the logistics of moving and installing heavy battery modules.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: One of the following fields –
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in the Renewable Energy Sector - Technical, ideally with industrial DC power systems, stationary batteries, or related high voltage equipment will be an advantage.
Technical Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of fundamental AC/DC power principles and high voltage electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical or electro-mechanical issues.
Certifications:
OSHA 10 or 30 certification is often required.
Certifications in battery maintenance or specific equipment training are beneficial.
A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are typically necessary for field roles.
Physical Demands: Must be capable of physically demanding work, including lifting and moving heavy equipment and working in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
Work Environment
The role does involve working under pressure in critical infrastructure environments and will require travel and responding to emergency calls outside of normal hours
