We have an immediate opening for a CNC CMM Programmer-Operator / Quality Inspector in the Repair Services, Operations Department. This position will report to the Manager, Repair Services. The incumbent will be based in Richmond, BC. The successful candidate must be willing to cross train to support future growth into inspection-related responsibilities.
While the successful candidate’s primary role will be as a CMM Programmer-Operator, they must also be willing to cross train to support future growth into inspection-related responsibilities.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Programming/Operating
Ensure all programs are created within the parameters of the OEM’s applicable documentation.
Creating and maintaining a program database for the CNC CMM.
Ensure all computer equipment is functioning correctly and is properly maintained and safeguarded.
Maximize efficiencies and throughput during the CMM Inspection cycle and make suggestions for improvement.
Conduct in process measurement of aircraft parts.
Inspection
Verifies the conformance to the rework requirements at in-process inspection stages as described in the applicable inspection plan.
Use various precision measuring equipment to verify components are within specification.
Uses production control systems and generates documentation as required for the product files.
Performs the final inspection of the completed reworked areas, includes both a physical and documentation review.
Verifies the completion of the work instructions identified on the applicable shop order.
Prepares and completes all applicable release documentation following successful completion of the rework instructions.
Validates the certification of reworks on behalf of the company.
Completes and validates non-conformance tag/material review board (NCT/MRB) documentation.
Ensures compliance to the applicable quality procedures affecting the production process in the cell.
Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
Performs other functions as assigned that do not conflict with the final inspection function.
Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
Carries out other duties as assigned
Equipment
Ensure all CMM equipment used is within calibration date
Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and is properly maintained.
Report any major defects to the Lead Hand
Liaison
Assists in troubleshooting of technical problems within the cell.
Assist machinist on interpretation of CMM reports
Assist technicians on estimates and CMM report interpretations
Applicable competencies, aptitudes and qualifications:
Knowledgeable in the applicable rework processes and techniques used.
Technical school education in manufacturing technology or its equivalent
Proficiency in interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerance. (GD&T)
Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
Working knowledge of MS Office & MCOSMOS.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in programming and operating both manual and CNC Mitutoyo CMM’s
Mechanical, dimensional measuring and/ or mechanical blue print interpretation experience
Ability to work with minimal supervision
A high level of efficiency; the ability to adhere to specific quality standards while meeting production deadlines
Commitment to do shift work is a must
Willing to work overtime as required, including short notice
Knowledgeable in the surface finish requirements and inspection techniques of reworked surfaces.
Demonstrated knowledge of the applicable regulatory requirements relating to maintenance of aeronautical products.
Knowledgeable on the documentation completion requirements.
Working knowledge of production management computer system and other related internal control systems.
Knowledgeable in the quality requirements relating to the production process.
Ability to complete the Quality Reworks Inspector Training & Development Plan.
Proficient in decision making to ensure compliance to all customer, regulatory and company requirements.
Proficient in communication skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day
