Job Description

Brink Therapeutics is a venture-backed biotech company specializing in the development of cutting-edge gene therapy tools. We focus on site-specific recombinases, highly efficient enzymes that enable precise DNA modifications - such as inserting, removing, or inverting DNA sequences - without causing double-strand breaks. These recombinases offer a safer, more precise alternative to existing technologies like CRISPR-Cas9, giving them the potential to revolutionize Cell and Gene Therapies and finally push them over the brink of mass accessibility.

Values

By joining Brink Therapeutics, you will become part of a passionate and growing team at an exciting inflection point - with meaningful progress behind us and significant momentum ahead as we advance toward our Series A. Together, we are building an ambitious company harnessing advanced Directed Evolution, deep gene-mining techniques and AI to unlock new possibilities for treating & curing cancers, genetic disorders and beyond.

If you are an innovative scientist or engineer excited about working together to solve hard, longstanding problems to improve patients’ lives around the world, we are looking for passionate individuals to join our team and help shape the future of medicine!

Mission Highlights

As a Cell Engineering Technician, you will provide essential technical support for the development and execution of our in cellulo recombinase assays, with the ultimate goal of characterizing and validating our lead therapeutic recombinase enzyme candidates for efficiency and specificity.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Execution: Implement and perform assay protocols for screening and characterization of recombinases in human cells (cell culture, bacterial cloning, molecular biology, flow cytometry, microscopy, PCR, NGS)

  • Laboratory Maintenance: Prepare reagents, manage consumable stocks, and ensure the proper functioning and cleanliness of cell culture equipment

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Perform experimental data acquisition, conduct primary data analysis, and maintain rigorous traceability via an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN)

  • Reporting: Communicate technical results and report any experimental anomalies or equipment issues to the supervising scientists

  • Working Hours: Due to the time-sensitive nature of cell culture experiments, occasional flexibility in working hours, including weekends, may be required to cover critical assay timepoints

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for a bench-oriented technician recognized for their experimental rigor and ability to produce high-quality data. You enjoy teamwork and are capable of working autonomously on daily tasks.

  • Education: Bac+2/3 level degree (e.g., French BTS Biotechnologies, BUT Génie Biologique, or Licence Professionnelle in biology/biotechnology)

  • Experience: Previous experience (including internships) in molecular or cellular biology, ideally within a research or biotech environment

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in cell culture (immortalized lines; experience with primary cells is a plus).

    • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, nucleic acid extraction)

    • Familiarity with transfection methods and basic fluorescence microscopy

    • Hands-on experience with flow cytometry -data acquisition, panel setup, and gating of fluorescent protein reporter readouts; prior exposure to Miltenyi MACSQuant instruments is a plus

  • Languages: English - professional working proficiency

  • Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a "can-do" attitude in a fast-paced startup environment

Preferred Skills (Nice-to-have):

  • Prior experience with incubator-based live-cell imaging platforms (IncuCyte or equivalent) - assay setup, image acquisition, and basic analysis (confluence, fluorescence intensity, kinetic readouts)

  • Prior exposure to genome editing tools or viral vector handling

Recruitment Process

  • We first check that your profile meets our requirements

  • An introductory call with one of the founders

  • Technical and value-fit interviews with wider team, on-site
