Job Description
- We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technician – Batteries & Electrical Team to play a crucial role in our engineering and build operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the hands-on fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing of complex wire harnesses, electrical components, Li-ion batteries and thermal systems, with a strong focus on Lithium-ion battery packs, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and High Voltage (HV) powertrains
- The ideal candidate brings a meticulous eye for detail, a strong commitment to laboratory safety, and 4–5 years of proven experience in a fast-paced electrical testing, prototyping, or EV assembly environment. Key Responsibilities
Harness Fabrication, Assembly & BMS Integration
- Perform precision soldering and crimping of wires, connectors, and terminals according to engineering schematics.
- Execute end-to-end wire harness fabrication, including routing, bundling, and applying protective sleeving/shielding to aerospace/automotive standards.
- Support Battery Management System (BMS) integration, including the meticulous routing and connection of voltage/temperature sense lines and communication buses.
- Handle mechanical assembly of electrical enclosures and battery module components.
HVAC & Thermal System Assembly
- Assist in the assembly, routing, and plumbing of HVAC and thermal management systems (coolant lines, chillers, pumps, and valves) integrated with the battery pack.
- Ensure leak-free connections and proper mechanical fitment of thermal components within the system housing
Testing, Validation & Documentation
- Conduct electrical and electronics component testing using diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, and data loggers).
- Perform functional HVAC testing and thermal loop checks to validate cooling/heating performance.
- Assist engineers in continuity testing, insulation resistance testing (hi-pot), and troubleshooting electrical faults.
- Maintain comprehensive, detailed, and organized test records, data logs, and quality checklists for all build and verification stages.
Lab Maintenance, Tools & Calibration
- Maintain the electrical lab, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
- Responsible for maintaining necessary tools and managing the calibration tracking/schedules for all diagnostic and measurement equipment.
- Enforce strict safety protocols, especially regarding High Voltage areas and chemical safety related to Li-ion batteries.
- Manage inventory of electrical consumables (wires, connectors, heat shrinks, solder).
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Experience: 4–5 years of hands-on experience as an electrical/electronics technician, preferably in the automotive, aerospace, EV, or e-mobility industries.
Certifications (Required & Preferred)
- High Voltage Certification (Required): Must possess a valid certification for working around High Voltage (HV) electrical powertrains (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA HV safety, or regional equivalents like TUV/DGUV).
- Industry Workmanship Standards (Highly Preferred): Strong preference will be given to candidates holding valid certifications in:
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies)
- IPC J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies)
Specialized Knowledge & Competencies
- Battery & BMS Expertise: Strong practical understanding of working safely with Lithium-ion batteries and a solid working knowledge of BMS functionality
- HVAC Exposure: Prior exposure to or hands-on experience with automotive/industrial HVAC assembly and testing is highly preferred.
Technical Competencies - Tooling & Calibration : Expert use of crimping tools, soldering irons, and specialized assembly equipment; experience managing asset calibration logs.
- Diagnostics & Systems: Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and fluidic/thermal layouts.
- BMS & Electronics: Familiarity with connecting BMS hardware and basic understanding of communication lines (CAN, LIN, etc.).
- Workmanship Quality: Deep familiarity with IPC class standards for reliability, surface mount, and through-hole soldering.
- Documentation: Deep familiarity with IPC class standards for reliability, surface mount, and through-hole soldering.
What We Look For (Soft Skills)
- A "safety-first" mindset with strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- High level of manual dexterity and patience for intricate electrical and plumbing work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose intermittent electrical or thermal issues.
- Clear communication skills to collaborate effectively with the engineering design team.
