PURPOSE
The Nuclear Chemistry Technician performs both laboratory and field-based chemistry activities that support safe, reliable nuclear plant operation. Responsibilities include field sampling of plant systems, diesel fuel, and other media; performing chemical and radiological analyses; performing chemical additions and filter changeouts of various plant systems; maintaining compliance with the site Chemical Hygiene Plan; and supporting routine and emergent chemistry needs essential to plant performance and regulatory requirements.

Minimum education required of the position
High school diploma.
B.S. Degree in chemistry or a related technical degree, Naval Nuclear Power School, Engineering Laboratory Technician School or equivalent work experience highly preferred.

Meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-2014. ANSI Section 4.5.3.1– Technician, Chemistry
The standard specifies this as individuals responsible for specific maintenance activities or analytical laboratory work. They are responsible for troubleshooting, performance of tests, calibration, inspections, surveys, maintenance, and repair of equipment. Technicians interpret and verify field data accumulated from tests such as radiation surveys, instrumentation systems tests, liquid and gaseous analysis, and calibration of electronic circuits.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
