Job Details

This is an excellent opportunity to build a career in street lighting and roads maintenance. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Roads and Street Lighting Maintenance team.

The role supports the delivery of street lighting maintenance services across South Fife, while also assisting with winter service operations, roads maintenance activities, and associated administrative duties. You will help ensure services are delivered in compliance with statutory obligations, Council policies, and relevant legislation, contributing to the provision of safe, efficient, and high-quality services throughout Fife

Salary range Single status FC3-FC6 placement depending on skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications. Permanent, based at Halbeath Depot, Dunfermline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Consultant in managing the Unit's resources to achieve agreed priorities, targets, and service objectives.
  • Assist in the delivery of street lighting maintenance activities and associated programmes of work.
  • Contribute to a customer-focused approach to service delivery through the planning, preparation, and management of routine maintenance programmes and schemes.
  • Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Prepare designs, drawings, specifications, and other documentation relating to maintenance works.
  • Supervise contractors and subcontractors to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.
  • Prepare estimates and quotations for routine works and projects for internal and external customers.
  • Assist with budget monitoring, performance reporting, and the provision of financial and operational information as required.
  • Provide information and support for the Operations Trading Account.
  • Contribute to the delivery of effective customer and emergency response services in line with Council policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of winter maintenance activities during periods of severe weather.
  • Produce reports, records, and other documentation as required.
  • Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation, policies, and best practice.

The Person

  • You will be educated to SCQF level 5, which includes National 5 or SVQ level 2 or Standard Grades at credit level including Maths and English at level 3 or above, or equivalent.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • You should have good communication skills with experience in working with the public.
  • You should have good IT and numerical skills.
  • Have relevant experience in Local Government.
  • You should have familiarity with street lighting and / or roads maintenance documentation.
