There post is based in the Maintenance North team. The role supports the delivery of roads, street lighting and car park maintenance, winter maintenance, design services, and related administration in line with statutory requirements, Council policies, and relevant legislation to ensure high quality service delivery.
Salary range Single status FC3-FC5 placement depending on skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications. Permanent, based at Bankhead Central, Glenrothes.
Assist the Service Manager in the performance of their duties.
Assist the Lead Consultant to manage the Unit’s resources in order to meet agreed targets/priorities.
Liaise directly with complainants and customers to offer solutions and ensure the “closing of the customer loop”.
Assist in the delivery of the unit’s customer-focused approach to integrated service delivery through the preparation and control of routine maintenance programmes and schemes.
Liaise with other teams, suppliers and other internal / external parties as necessary.
Design, draft and prepare documentation for maintenance works.
Supervise the activities of contractors and sub-contractors.
Provide estimates and quotations for routine works and schemes for internal and external customers.
Assist in the monitoring of budgets and performance for various activities and provide information as required.
Provide information as required for the Operations Trading Account.
Contribute to an effective customer front line response/emergency service, ensuring the implementation of the Council’s policies.
Assist in the organisation of works associated with winter maintenance during severe weather.
Produce reports and other documentation as required.
Ensure compliance with current Health and Safety legislation.
The Person
You will be educated to SCQF level 5, which includes National 5 or SVQ level 2 or Standard Grades at credit level including Maths and English at level 3 or above, or equivalent.
Be able to work as part of a team and independently.
You should have good communication skills with experience in working with the public.
You should have good IT and numerical skills.
Have relevant experience in Local Government.
You should have familiarity with civil engineering and / or roads maintenance documentation.
