Northwood is on a mission to build a data highway between earth and space and bring the benefits of space to the masses through innovations in space communications technologies. If you like building quickly and seeing your work deployed in locations around the globe with real impact, we want you at Northwood.
Role
Technicians support the build, integration, and test of hardware used in parabolic and phased-array antenna systems. The role focuses on assembling precision subassemblies and integrating them into complete antenna units used for ground-based satellite communications. The position is intended for early-career individuals with strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn manufacturing processes quickly.
Responsibilities
Assemble mechanical and electromechanical subassemblies for antenna systems.
Integrate subassemblies into complete parabolic and phased-array antenna assemblies.
Perform mechanical alignment, fastening, and structural integration using hand and power tools.
Follow engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and build documentation.
Conduct basic verification checks including fit, alignment, and functional inspection.
Support prototype builds and iterative hardware development.
Maintain clean and organized workspaces, tools, and hardware inventory.
Document build steps, issues, and deviations during assembly.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve assembly processes.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude (hands-on projects, shop work, robotics, automotive work, etc.).
Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings or assembly instructions.
Experience using common hand tools and shop equipment.
Comfort working with precision components and small mechanical assemblies.
Strong attention to detail and quality of workmanship.
Ability to work in a fast-paced hardware development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical training, trade school, community college coursework, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Exposure to mechanical assembly, electronics assembly, or manufacturing environments.
Experience with torque tools, fasteners, adhesives, or cable routing.
Familiarity with prototyping tools such as 3D printers, mills, drill presses, or bandsaws.
Basic understanding of RF hardware or antenna systems.

Northwood was founded by Bridgit Mendler, Griffin Cleverly, and Shaurya Luthra with the mission to expand access to space by transforming satellite backhaul infrastructure. We are building an advanced, scalable ground network powered by phased array technology to deliver enhanced connectivity and resilience for space operations. Our innovative approach is designed to rapidly scale and improve the efficiency of satellite communication networks. The first Northwood sites are set to deploy in 2025.
