Job Description
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
A technical writer with experience in turning complex technical information into documentation that people actually read, not just files that sit in a repository.
You have worked in DITA XML, you understand topics and maps, and you know why content reuse saves more than just time. When a product manager/SME hands you half-formed specs and a developer gives you a code comment as context, you do not wait for perfection. You ask the right questions, dig into the product yourself, and build something clear from the pieces you have.
You are detail-oriented and can review documents for consistency and catch the terminology drift that everyone else missed. At Synopsys, you will work on customer-facing documentation for products that power semiconductor development worldwide, and what you write will directly affect how engineers understand and use those tools.
What You'll Be Doing
- Create and maintain customer documentation using DITA XML in Adobe FrameMaker or Oxygen XML, structuring content for reuse, modularity, and multi-format publishing
- Work directly with developers, product managers, QA engineers, and SMEs to collect technical information, validate accuracy, and drive documentation reviews through to sign-off
- Analyze product functionality and translate it into task-based, user-focused documentation that helps engineers solve real problems
- Review and edit documentation for technical accuracy, grammar, terminology consistency, and adherence to Synopsys style guidelines
- Manage documentation updates aligned with product release schedules, ensuring content is versioned, tracked, and delivered on time
- Create and maintain supporting content such as screenshots, diagrams, workflows, tables, and illustrations.
- Identify gaps and inconsistencies in existing documentation and contribute to process improvements, templates, and authoring standards
The Impact You Will Have
- Enable customers to adopt and use Synopsys EDA and IP products more effectively through clear, accurate documentation
- Reduce support escalations by ensuring engineers can find answers in the docs instead of filing tickets
- Improve documentation consistency and reusability across product lines, making updates faster and reducing duplication
- Accelerate product launches by delivering documentation that meets release milestones without blocking engineering timelines
- Strengthen the quality bar for technical content across the organization by contributing to standards, templates, and peer reviews
- Help shape how Synopsys leverages structured authoring and emerging tools like AI to scale documentation efforts
- Build documentation that holds up under real-world use, not just passes internal review
What You'll Need
- 2 to 4 years of professional experience in technical writing, ideally for software or technology products
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent discipline
- Hands-on experience with DITA XML concepts including topics, maps, content reuse, conditional content, and cross-references
- Proficiency in Adobe FrameMaker or Oxygen XML for structured authoring and publishing
- Strong command of technical communication fundamentals like task-based writing, information architecture, and content structuring
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Perforce for managing documentation source files
- Experience with MS Visio for creating technical diagrams and process flows is a plus, as is exposure to AI tools for content drafting, summarization, or quality improvement
Who You Are
- You can sit in a design review with engineers, absorb the technical details, and walk out with a plan for how to document it clearly for three different user personas
- You manage multiple documentation projects and deadlines without missing release dates
- You push back when technical information is incomplete or when a proposed change will confuse users, and you do it in a way that keeps the collaboration moving
- You work independently across time zones and distributed teams, but you also know when to pull people into a review or escalate a blocker
- You care about the details, catching terminology inconsistencies, broken links, and formatting issues that others miss, but you also ship on time
- You are curious about new tools and workflows, whether that means exploring AI-assisted authoring, automation scripts, or better ways to structure content for reuse
