Volunteer Role: WeVote Political Data Intern (Volunteer Position)
Location: Remote within the US
About Us
WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. WeVote is a movement of over 150 passionate volunteers (starting with the founders) who are building open-source mobile technologies that touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. We observe that many voters are busy, distracted, and impatient. We have a goal of providing a complete voting experience in 8 minutes, including the download of our app ("WeVote Ballot Guide, @WeVote"). More information is at WeVote.US See Twitter @WeVote. We are a 100% volunteer and remote organization.
The Talent Acquisition team at WeVote is the engine that supplies the talent to the organization. As a volunteer organization, strong employees make a strong organization. Solid documentation and manuals help us to onboard our team effectively. We are looking for a technical writer to supply/refine that documentation. We’re looking for a writer who can be sole owner/planner of our team documentation: onboarding, process/training. This writer will collaborate with subject matter experts to gather current information, write original content, edit existing content, proofread and maintain documentation repositories. Creating and managing FAQs will be a future need.

How to Apply
Send your resume and a brief note or cover letter describing:

WeVote is building the next generation of voting tech. We're creating a digital voter guide informed by issues you care about and people you trust. Through our nonpartisan, open source platform, we'll help you become a better voter, up and down the ballot.
You have a lot of decisions to make when you vote, and political campaigns don't always tell the whole truth. With fake news and misinformation, it's hard to tell which candidate or ballot initiative is on your side. Does that candidate for state legislature care about the same issues that you do? Does the awkwardly-worded ballot initiative support what you believe or is it the exact opposite (and was it purposely written to be so confusing?!)
We Vote cuts through the clutter to help you understand what's on your ballot. Our open platform empowers voters to create and share voter guides that aggregate information and opinions across personal networks. So you can help your friends be better voters too.
