We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer with deep experience in professional audio/video systems and show control technologies to join our Studio Technology team.

In this role, you will own the end-to-end development of documentation for complex show control and media production environments. Your work will serve as a critical operational bridge—translating system architecture into clear, actionable guidance for the teams who build, maintain, and operate live experiences.

Key deliverables include system integration specifications, operator runbooks, training materials, and signal flow documentation. Your audience will span production crews, systems engineers, venue operations teams, and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Documentation & Content Development

  • Author, structure, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for audio/video systems, including:
    • Routing matrices
    • Signal flow diagrams
    • Patch lists
    • System integration specifications
  • Develop clear, operationally focused runbooks and standard operating procedure (SOP) libraries for show control systems
  • Create training materials, onboarding documentation, and quick-reference guides for production and operations teams
  • Translate complex system behaviors into clear, usable documentation tailored to diverse audiences

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with systems engineers and production technology teams to gather requirements, validate configurations, and ensure documentation accuracy
  • Collaborate with show control programmers, A/V integrators, and production supervisors to document system behavior and operational workflows
  • Act as a central liaison between system architects, integrators, and operators to ensure alignment and clarity
  • Manage documentation lifecycle, including version control, updates, and change tracking across system evolutions

Standards & Governance

  • Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides across the technology organization
  • Build and maintain a centralized, scalable, and accessible documentation repository
  • Ensure consistency, usability, and accuracy across all documentation artifacts

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of technical writing experience in professional AV, broadcast, live entertainment, or studio production environments
  • Proven expertise documenting complex audio/video systems and delivery specifications
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., SMPTE, AES, IEEE)
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to calibrate content for both operator-facing documentation and engineering-level specifications
  • Ability to synthesize and present complex technical information clearly for senior leadership audiences

Preferred

  • Experience supporting studio production, media engineering, or cloud-based production systems
  • Working knowledge of IT and networking fundamentals, particularly as applied to AV-over-IP and media infrastructure
  • Familiarity with digital media formats and packaging standards (e.g., IMF, DCP, QuickTime, image sequences)
  • Experience documenting end-to-end media production workflows

Pay Range $115,000$135,000 USD
