About the Opportunity
Leidos is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documentation supporting complex hardware and software systems.
You will work with developers, engineers, technical personnel, and subject matter experts to translate highly technical information into accurate, accessible documentation for a range of audiences. Your work may include software and systems-engineering documentation, system operations and test documentation, installation and configuration instructions, implementation guides, user and training manuals, code documentation, technical publications, and data-related documentation.

As a Technical Writer, you will help turn engineering information, technical drawings, operational procedures, software information, and subject-matter expertise into documentation that supports both technical teams and end users.
What You'll Do
Technical Documentation Development
Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documentation throughout the documentation lifecycle.
Prepare and maintain operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications.
Write and edit installation, configuration, and how-to documentation for project hardware and software.
Create software code documentation, implementation guides, and end-user guides.
Develop field, data-definition, and data-flow documentation.
Write technical copy for a variety of document types under general direction.
Gather technical information from multiple sources and translate it into clear written content.
Maintain a current internal documentation library.
Technical Research & Collaboration
Research highly technical subject matter and organize information from multiple sources into documentation understandable to a broad range of readers.
Work with developers to produce quality technical documentation and training materials.
Develop documentation using engineering drawings, engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other available technical sources.
Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings and operational procedures and synthesize large quantities of computer-related information.
Publications, Reports & Briefings
Prepare reports, responses, and briefings for a range of audiences.
Coordinate document layout and design.
Format technical publications using technical drawings, source materials, and information obtained from technical personnel.
Use word-processing and presentation tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Mission & DoD Documentation
Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation supporting the end-user community for DoD electronic equipment and systems.
Produce technical documentation for cryptologic programs or projects developing analytic tradecraft methodologies.
Apply technical manual standard NSA DS-89 to applicable work products.
Required Qualifications
Clearance
TS/SCI with Polygraph required at Application, to be considered for this position.
Education & Experience
Six (6) years of Technical Writing experience supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
Four (4) additional years of Technical Writing experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.

Pay Range $65,650.00 - $118,675.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
