Job Description

Technical Writer-CSC Software Training Team

Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Remote-Americas

CSC provides technology-based tax, business licensing, and compliance solutions to clients across the United States, making us a trusted partner to many of the most nationally recognized businesses. Since our start more than 25 years ago, we have sustained steady growth and are recognized as an industry leader.

We are looking for a Technical Writer for our established team; this role can be based in any CSC office or remote.

What you will be doing:

As the Technical Writer, you will work with our team of Technical Software Trainers to write new content and confirm integrity of training materials in the product training repository. You will also create customer communications that deliver content through a wide range of target audiences.

The Technical Writer works closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create, edit, update, and manage a variety of curriculum documentation and video assets for multiple software products. This role owns the end-to-end lifecycle of a growing library of training guides, eLearning courses, certification documents, knowledge exams, and training videos. All content must adhere to CSC-approved branding and formatting standards and is reviewed and approved by relevant SMEs prior to publishing.

This position requires approximately 10–15 hours of cross-functional communication weekly across US time zones. The ideal candidate has a strong command of professional American English and the interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams, translating casual SME input into polished, brand-consistent content.

Content Creation & Management

  • Create, edit, update, and manage training guides, eLearning courses (Rise), knowledge exams (Storyline), training videos, certification documents, and case studies for Licensing and Tax software products

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of 90+ training assets, including guides, courses, and videos, with library expansion as a key priority

  • Gather complex technical data and translate it into accurate, easy-to-understand content for a wide range of target audiences

  • Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by peers and subject matter experts in a timely manner

  • Capture and update screenshots, GIFs, and short videos using SnagIt, Camtasia, or Adobe Premiere; apply effects such as zoom and highlight as needed

  • SCORM-export courses and exams; publish, test, and release content through the Thought Industries LMS

  • Create Help Hero in-app tours, feature release notifications, and alerts for AppealTrack and License Pro products

  • Edit conference-related videos and documents, including captioning, audio quality review, and copyediting of PowerPoints

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with SMEs, product managers, trainers, and instructional designers across US time zones to gather source material and ensure accuracy

  • Analyze design specifications and requirements with project managers, sales teams, and other appropriate stakeholders

  • Participate across multiple platforms—including SharePoint, Box, NetSuite, and issue trackers—to ensure all documentation needs are met

  • Communicate issues or risks to project leads proactively

  • Provide peers with assistance and foster a team environment where ideas to improve efficiency, process, and morale are welcomed

  • Perform effectively as a collaborative team member while also working independently with minimal supervision

Customer Focus & Professional Development

  • Understand and anticipate customer business needs; proactively search for opportunities to exceed customer expectations

  • Build and maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships through clear, professional communication

  • Adapt to change in projects and the organization with a positive and solutions-oriented mindset

  • Seek opportunities to fulfill goals in your career development plan, such as training or stretch project tasks
