Operating over 13,000 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 128 substations across NSW and the ACT, we connect electricity generators to the distribution network powering homes, businesses, and communities. As Australia accelerates its energy transition, the work we do has never been more significant.

About the role

Join Transgrid as a part-time Technical Training Lead (3-4 days per week) and help shape the future of technical skills development at our Wagga Wagga Training Precinct. You'll lead precinct operations, stakeholder partnerships and continuous improvement initiatives, creating a safe, engaging environment that supports workforce capability, regional skills development and pathways into technical careers. You will coordinate the day-to-day operation of the precinct, including:

  • Lead the Technical Training Precinct, driving governance, growth and continuous improvement.
  • Build education, industry and community partnerships that create career pathways.
  • Drive precinct utilisation through training, events and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee safe, compliant and efficient precinct operations.
  • Support funding, reporting and initiatives that deliver lasting community value.
  • Lead the Training Precinct Coordinator and support seamless precinct operations.

Working closely with trainers, operational teams and service providers, you'll help ensure the training precinct operates safely, efficiently and in line with business, compliance and governance requirements.

About you

You are a relationship-focused leader who communicates with influence, builds trusted partnerships and confidently engages diverse stakeholders. Combining strong judgement with a practical, hands-on approach, you can navigate competing priorities, solve challenges and drive positive outcomes while balancing strategic engagement with day-to-day operational delivery. Ideally, you'll bring experience from the energy, infrastructure, vocational education or regional development sectors, along with the flexibility to travel and support key precinct activities when needed. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Relevant qualification in business, education, community engagement or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience leading and activating programs and partnerships that deliver meaningful outcomes.
  • Commercial acumen across budgets, reporting and cost management.
  • Experience securing grants, funding or sponsorships is desirable.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of technical skills and workforce development by building strong industry and community partnerships.

About Transgrid

We’ve ensured the smooth operation of over 11,517 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 136 substations and switching stations across NSW and the ACT, with interconnections to QLD and VIC.

Our most crucial work is leading the transition to Australia’s clean energy future. The traditional coal system that served our country for decades is nearing the end of its life, to be replaced by wind and solar generation.

We’re making the right decisions now to prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead – a changing climate, population growth and technology innovation.

As we lead the way towards a more resilient future, we’re working closely with our customers and communities to make sure no one is left behind.

Wherever you are in NSW or the ACT, you can be confident in the reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity we transmit as we make a better power system for generations to come.
