Job Description

The Technical Training & Dealer Capability Development Specialist is responsible for supporting the design, development, and delivery of technical training programs that strengthen the capability of dealer service engineers and service network personnel. This role focuses on enhancing product knowledge, troubleshooting expertise, service quality, and customer handling skills while ensuring compliance with Cummins standards, safety requirements, and operational excellence. The position works closely with cross-functional teams and dealership partners to build a skilled service network that delivers exceptional customer support and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver technical training programs for dealer service engineers and service personnel to improve product knowledge, troubleshooting capability, technical proficiency, and customer service skills.
  • Assist senior technical trainers in the preparation, delivery, and continuous improvement of classroom, virtual, and hands-on technical training programs.
  • Complete product qualification requirements and continuously develop expertise on Cummins products, systems, and technologies.
  • Update and maintain training materials, participant handouts, instructor guides, and training documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency across training centers.
  • Communicate training material updates and best practices to regional training teams and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Service, Sales, Technical Support, Engineering, and Dealer Development to align capability-building initiatives with organizational objectives.
  • Partner with dealerships to ensure the availability of qualified technical manpower and support workforce capability planning based on required skill sets.
  • Establish and implement structured technical training and certification programs to improve service engineer competency, repair quality, and troubleshooting effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning by promoting ongoing technical development, certifications, and participation in relevant learning programs.
  • Conduct regular audits of dealership service centers to evaluate repair quality, adherence to Cummins service processes, and compliance with operational standards.
  • Ensure dealership personnel follow Cummins safety requirements, standard operating procedures, compliance guidelines, calibration requirements, and proper usage of standard service tools.
  • Support training administration activities including maintaining training records, attendance, certifications, and learning documentation.
  • Coordinate training equipment, tools, and inventory to ensure effective execution of training programs.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in dealer capability development initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with dealers, customers, and internal stakeholders to enhance service capability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Education, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Additional technical certifications or training qualifications are advantageous.
  • Ability to obtain any licenses required for export control or regulatory compliance, where applicable.

Skills

  • Knowledge of technical training delivery methodologies and adult learning principles.
  • Strong understanding of technical service operations, dealer network management, and capability development.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging technical and customer service training programs.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques, service quality standards, and repair processes.
  • Familiarity with Cummins products, systems, and service procedures is preferred.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess training effectiveness and identify capability gaps.
  • Planning, organization, and project coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and learning management systems.
  • Customer-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to adapt training delivery to different audiences and learning environments.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, compliance, and quality standards.

Experience

  • Minimal to early-career experience in technical training, learning and development, field service, dealer support, or a related technical function.
  • Experience assisting with training preparation, delivery, or learning administration is preferred.
  • Exposure to dealer service operations, technical support, or customer service environments is advantageous.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to build technical knowledge and support capability development initiatives through training and coaching.
