Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Trainer to join our team at Burnfoot. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a central role in developing our production employees and ensure that every colleague is equipped to perform their role safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver practical, hands-on training across the full range of Busbar machinery and processes, ensuring safe and effective operation.
• Develop, implement and maintain structured training plans aligned to the Busbar Training Matrix.
• Assess operator competency and support progression through the L1–L9 grading structure.
• Identify skills gaps and deliver targeted development plans to build a highly skilled, multi-disciplined workforce.
• Coach, mentor and support operators to develop confidence, capability and independence.
• Deliver training on safe working practices, quality standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain accurate training records and regularly update the Busbar Training Matrix.
• Support new starter inductions and onboarding within the Busbar area.
• Carry out routine inspection, maintenance, sharpening and regrinding of machine dies and tooling.
• Monitor tooling condition, maintain preventative maintenance schedules and coordinate tooling replacements as required.
• Troubleshoot tooling-related production issues and implement effective corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including DMAIC, 5S and Gemba activities, while identifying opportunities to improve machine utilisation, quality and operator capability.

Essential Skills, Qualifications/Experience:

• Fully competent in the operation of Busbar machinery and processes.
• Demonstrated competency across Busbar operations.
• Experience in the maintenance, inspection, and regrinding of machine dies and tooling.
• Ability to coach, instruct, and assess others in a workshop environment.
• Strong understanding of safe working practices within a manufacturing environment.
• Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical processes to colleagues of all skill levels.

Desirable Skills, Qualifications/Experience:

• Previous experience in a formal training or mentoring role.
• Knowledge of 5S methodology and lean manufacturing principles.
• Experience developing and maintaining training matrices and competency assessment frameworks.
• Experience operating machinery.
