Job Description

The technical tendering regional leader will be responsible for the technical tendering team in ASIA region for new/IB opportunities managing a regional portfolio of tenders (for ASIA and EMEA mainly but could be NAM), securing that all offers are delivered on time and take the best of the GE Hydro products and innovative capabilities. He/ She shall be responsible for assignment of the tasks to the team. He/ she will be responsible of staffing the team, helping the technical tendering system integrators in their tasks and when there is no TTSI he has to assign the ownership of a tendering to a member of his team (or to him) and assign the resources that work on this given tender. On behalf of Hydro Engineering, the technical tendering leader plays an important role at securing the profitability of the business, in ensuring that all the technical guarantees offered to clients can be delivered within the cost and planning budgeted in each offer. He/She represents the Hydro Engineering team in front of customers to promote GE Hydro products and offers. He/She works closely with the other functions (Sales, Commercial operation, Costing, Supply Chain, Quality, Site..) to deliver competitive and profitable offers and simplifying the way the ITO teams operate. He / she will be responsible of applying the same tools and the same processes during the tender period. He / she will be supportive of the globality of the tendering team and has to work in a multicultural environment with a positive and flexible mindset.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure safety, equality, and compliance in the Technical Tendering team
  • Manage the regional technical tendering team and ensure that team respects the GE global technical tendering processes
  • Manage a regional portfolio of tenders, participate to R0/R1 call, securing on-time delivery of offers in line with tender strategies
  • Ensure each offer is taking the best of GE Hydro innovative capabilities and products to maximize the competitiveness of each tenders
  • Ensure each offer will result in a profitable project and complete handing over to execution team
  • Help the technical tendering system integrators in their tasks and when there is no TTSI, assign the ownership of a tendering to a member of his team (or to him)
  • Own the technical risk analyzes and escalation to global technical tendering leader as needed
  • Represent the Hydro Engineering in front of customers and stakeholders, in the context of tender negotiation and promotion of Hydro solutions
  • Support the project execution by direct management of the Electrical design resource working on project execution
  • Ensure the work environment and the culture of the teams enable sound performance management and people development
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean culture in the organization, simplifying the way the teams operate and implementing feedback of experience from Markets (WinLoss) and project execution

Basic Qualifications:

  • Advance Degree in Engineering
  • 15 years of experience in the Hydro business or equivalent, leading technical teams and/or projects, preferably with a multi-product responsibility (turbine, generator, control system, Balance of Plant equipment..)
  • Knowledge in Hydraulic machineries and/or Master of Business Administration is a plus

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to manage multi-cultural and multi-products technical teams and processes
  • Strong technical experience in rotating machinery design and/or execution of power plant EPC projects
  • Proven capabilities to influence and negotiate with customers and/or stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills with ability to clearly communicate issues and resolution to both a technical and non-technical audience
  • Strategic mindset to build and operationalize winning tendering strategies and balance risks and opportunities
  • Sound leadership skills with ability to lead teams in an uncertain environment
  • Ability to drive teams and organization through multiple and rapid changes
  • Distinctive ability to operate in a matrix environment engaging into successful collaboration with all functions of the company
