Job Description

Join our technical team and helpbuild the future with us as the Technical Team Leader Construction.

Reporting to the Technical Supervisor Construction, you will be responsible for leading a team of Supply Electricians, Cable Jointers and Apprentices who construct, install and maintain substation and distribution equipment, and cable networks. This will require excellent people leadership, project planning and proven work delivery skills.

You'll thrive on growing and developing your team, building good working relationships with other team members, customers, and contractors and be comfortable working away from home on occasion.

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday plus overtime and rostered on call.

About You – Skills and Experience

You will be a highly motivated individual who has a pragmatic, flexible and adaptable team approach, along with the passion to grow and develop at PowerNet.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is a natural leader of people, who understands the benefits of great leadership.
  • Holds a National Certificate in Electrical Supply Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Has a current EWRB electrical registration and practicing licence.
  • Has at least 3 years recent experience in the electrical distribution industry
  • Is innovative, and capable of using new technology to improve the way things are done.
  • Is competent to hold a PowerNet Network Access criteria (NAC)
  • Holds a current class 1 driver's licence.
  • Has a current working knowledge of the industry’s safety regulations.

PowerNet Limited manages electricity networks on behalf of its respective owners Electricity Invercargill Limited and The Power Company Limited who each hold a 50% shareholding in the company.

Electricity Invercargill Limited (EIL) is owned by the ratepayers of the Invercargill City Council (ICC) and The Power Company Limited (TPC) is owned by the Southland Electric Power Supply Consumer Trust (SEPSCT) which represents consumers connected to their network.
