Job Duties

This position will provide day-to-day information technology support and review of Online Gaming software, Online Gaming applications, Casino Gaming Systems, and Gaming System within the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position will perform functions such as reviewing Gaming System technologies and applications, accessing the gaming systems’ back-office tools, and conducting quality control testing to ensure all gaming systems are compliant with regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborates in the implementation and compliance of Online Gaming Operators by participating in planning meetings to ensure that all milestones are met, and all technical requirements are complied with in accordance with regulations.
  • Assists in the administration and compliance of the Central Monitoring Computer System by participating in planning meetings, to ensure that all milestones are met, and all technical requirements are complied with in accordance with the regulations.
  • Assists with the implementation of gaming system policies, procedures, and standards and ensure their compliance.
  • Verifies stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of Gaming technology and systems.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications, and develop policies for data governance in collaboration with the Gaming Compliance team, Lottery IT, Online Gaming, and Casinos.
  • Continually analyzes directives and processes to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations by conducting technical reviews of SBO applications and systems.
  • Serves as a technical liaison between the Gaming Compliance team, Lottery IT, Online Gaming, and Casinos by communicating with them to assist them with understanding specific system requirements.
  • Perform deep-dive insight analysis to understand product and user needs.
  • Ability to articulate technical information clearly and simply to peers on the Gaming Compliance team.
  • Provide orientation and training to end-users.
  • Provide support ensuring the proper documentation of problem events, perform root cause analysis, problem/defect resolution and implementation of corrective measures.
  • Review Independent Test Lab certifications for Online Gaming applications and systems.
  • Review and Analyze annual Security Assessment reports for all approved gaming operators within the jurisdiction.
  • Coordinate system access and application testing with Online Gaming technical and system administrative teams.
  • Works closely with SBO’s to ensure all required software has been tested prior to being launched and complies with Virginia Gaming regulations.
  • Works closely with Central System operations to ensure all required software has been tested prior to being launched.
  • Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, online screen, or content.
  • Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software developers.
  • Document test procedures to ensure replicability and compliance with standards.
  • Communicate results of system reviews, testing, and quality control management with the Virginia Lottery regulatory team.
  • Prepare reports for leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data. Create appropriate data literacy guides to help the Gaming Compliance team be able to interpret the data.
  • Keep management apprised of system issues and problems
  • Assist and support the other Gaming Compliance Teams as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred. Experience with development of information technology support or regulatory compliance required. Experience in the gaming industry and sports betting preferred. General knowledge of various sports, leagues and governing bodies preferred.

Additional Considerations

Must complete a background Investigation, possess a valid driver’s license, with satisfactory driving history. Irregular hours and travel throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia may be required. Able to work hybrid schedule with three days in office (Tuesday and Wednesday mandatory).
