Specific Responsibilities:

1. To assist with the technical support of the company’s internal and external customers. This includes the written and telephone support of all customers and the company’s global, field service, sales and contracts staff. The TSE will ‘own’ technical issues and give regular feedback to the interested parties until the issue is ‘closed’.

2. To assist in the management of all field service bulletins (service news). This includes ensuring that the relevant information reaches all global & field service staff in a timely manner and that all modification/upgrade programs are fully documented and progressed to completion.

3. Identify requirements and create new generic and site specific SMOW and WI documents, update and review SMOW and WI documents bi-annually.

4. Compile and deliver training schedules and courses to new and inexperienced technicians and engineers on the range of products supported by the company.

5. The technical assistance of the company’s sales staff with the technical aspects of quotations and tender responses.

6. To assist in maintaining the accuracy, relevance and availability of all of the manuals. This includes all technical manuals from suppliers and user/installation manuals etc. produced by the company.

7. Works closely with suppliers to ensure that technical information is available when required.

8. The timely and accurate completion of all departmental, company and appropriate customer paperwork and administration documents.

9. The technical validation (“sign off”) of all items identified on the prevailing company scheme of delegation (e.g. contract sheets, engineering drawings, DC isolation & MINIpower assemblies, technical reports, generic and site specific risk assessments).

10. To assist the Service Department in the handling of 1st line service fault calls, to record the call and attempt to close the call over the phone. If a site visit is required, liaise with the Operations Director / Supervisor who will assign the relevant field service staff ensuring the service fault call is brought to a timely and satisfactory conclusion.

11. To plan and organize the selection of apprentices, including working with the colleges to arrange advertising of the positions, selection day and once onboarded responsible for the regular reviews and day to day management of the apprentices through their apprenticeship program.

12. To assist in the day to day operations of the department.


In addition to the above the TSE is required to comply with all and any reasonable requests made by the Managing Director or other Company Director in his absence.

Liaises with all associates to provide answers and solutions to technical questions and queries relating to the entire product portfolio. This can be at all stages of the product cycle. Occasional questions from Rehlko

External Business Relationships

Liaises with all suppliers, customers, contractors, consultants and certification organisations to provide answers to technical questions relating to the products. This can be at all stages of the product cycle.

Education/Experience Requirements:
List education requirements:
- HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- 18th Edition BS7671 preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ proven experience working in electrical field service within UPS industry
- Previous experience of training or mentoring others is preferred
- Strong communicator at all levels within and external to the organisation
- Proven problem solver
- Be able to work well under pressure and multi task
- Driven and able to work under own initiative
