Technical Application Support EngineerAdTech Platform · PulsePoint · India · RemoteSupport / SRE-lite · 3+ years experience · India · Europe · US coverageABOUT THE ROLEPulsePoint is looking for a Technical Application Support Engineer based in India to provide backup coverage for our platform and related audience workflows. This is not a primary feature development role. The person will act as a technical backup and first responder when the Europe-based team is unavailable, helping India and US teams investigate issues, validate system behavior, check logs, inspect API/database state, and escalate with clear technical context when deeper engineering work is required.Platform stack:ScalaPekko HTTPKafkaPekko StreamsMongoDBPostgreSQLFacebook/MetaLinkedInGoogle AdsMicrosoft/Bing AdsRedditPinterestTikTokTwitter/XRESPONSIBILITIESProvide backup technical support for internal API and related workflowsInvestigate production and staging issues using API responses, logs, metrics, Kafka state, MongoDB, and PostgreSQLUnderstand and trace the core system flow related to external platform integrationsInvestigate why entities failed to create/update, synchronize, or retrieve reports correctlyTroubleshoot platform-specific issues (Facebook/Meta, LinkedIn, etc.)Validate common token/auth issues, including expired user tokens, missing permissions, and platform account mapping problemsUse Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, Graphite, Kafka metrics, and database queries to support investigationsFollow runbooks for safe operational checks and simple remediation stepsDocument findings clearly and escalate with enough context for engineering teams to act quicklyWork closely with teams in India, Europe, and the USREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS3+ years in application support, production support, technical operations, backend QA, SRE-lite, or similar rolesStrong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, HTTP status codes, and backend request flowsHands-on experience reading logs and investigating production issuesPractical experience with MongoDB and SQL/PostgreSQL for read-only investigationBasic working knowledge of Kafka or event-driven systemsFamiliarity with Kubernetes-based applications at the support levelAbility to use dashboards and observability tools such as Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, or similarStrong troubleshooting mindset with clear written communication in EnglishAbility to work with distributed teams across India, Europe, and the USPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience supporting Scala (required), Java (required), or JVM backend systemsFamiliarity with Apache Pekko or Akka HTTP / StreamsExperience with advertising platforms or marketing APIsFamiliarity with OAuth, refresh tokens, access tokens, system users, and platform permissionsBasic understanding of CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes deploymentsExperience creating support runbooks and incident summariesWHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEAfter onboarding, this person should be able to:Understand the platform request/event flow end-to-endCheck whether a problem is in API validation, Kafka processing, event handling, MongoDB/PostgreSQL state, external platform API, or something elseIdentify common platform integration differencesAnswer basic "what happened?" questions without waking up the European ownerEscalate only when deeper engineering changes or platform-specific decisions are neededMaintain useful troubleshooting documentation for repeated issuesLocation & Hours:

  • Can work remotely anywhere in India (most of our Portal Engineering team live in India)
  • Hours: 3:30pm-12:30am IST (ending at 2pm ET)

Comp Structure & Benefits:

  • Comp structure: fixed (inclusive of PF, Gratuity, and a 25k INR medical premium) + a target annual bonus that is approximately 10% of the gross annual earnings. Note that we don’t offer stock options.
