Job Description

The Technical Specialist – TRS serves as the Geozone technical authority for Tubular Running Services, providing advanced technical expertise, operational support, and strategic customer engagement across the region. The role is responsible for supporting high-profile customer operations, technology deployment, tender activities, business growth initiatives, and operational excellence while ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable execution of TRS services.

Acting as a key customer-facing representative, the Technical Specialist works closely with clients, operations teams, and regional management to promote innovative technologies, optimize service delivery, and support business development objectives. This highly autonomous role requires extensive industry experience, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to represent Weatherford at both operational and executive customer levels.

The position is based in Jakarta, Indonesia, with regular travel throughout Asia to support customer operations, technology introductions, training initiatives, and business development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Geozone technical expert for TRS operations, providing technical guidance and support across the region.
  • Support planning, execution, and optimization of casing, tubing, drill pipe, and completion running operations.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, delivering technical presentations and promoting TRS technologies and solutions.
  • Support tender preparation, technical proposals, and business development initiatives.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts, root cause investigations, and operational improvement projects.
  • Support strategic customer startups, high-profile projects, and new technology deployments.
  • Collaborate with operations, sales, and management teams to drive service quality, operational excellence, and business growth.
  • Monitor equipment readiness, maintenance requirements, and compliance with company standards.
  • Mentor field personnel and support technical competency development across the Geozone.
  • Ensure compliance with Weatherford HSE, quality, and operational standards.
  • Contribute to financial performance through technical optimization, customer retention, and identification of growth opportunities.
  • Travel throughout Asia to support customer operations, technology implementation, and business development activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within Tubular Running Services (TRS) operations.
  • Extensive experience supporting onshore and offshore drilling operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer-facing technical roles and stakeholder management.
  • Previous experience supporting tenders, technical proposals, and business development activities.
  • Proven track record of delivering technical presentations and engaging directly with customers.
  • Experience with new technology implementation and operational startups is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of drilling and completion operations.
  • Fluent in English; additional Asian languages are advantageous.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout Asia.
  • Eligible to obtain work visas and travel documentation throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
  • No restrictions that would prevent travel to customer locations or operational sites across the region.
