Unique Skills:
DUTIES Perform safety analysis for flight control systems, electrical systems, and fire protection systems on company aircraft. Work on engineering projects containing critical problems, the solution of which requires major technological advances and extensive related development. Be responsible for entire engineering projects of major complexity within an established scope. Make technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities. Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts based on broad expertise and unique specialized knowledge. Lead the development of innovative principles and ideas. Act independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product, cost, and schedule requirements. Work under consultative direction while using independent judgment to accomplish objectives. Develop standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Conceive and plan investigations of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field required. Thirteen years of experience in system safety engineering required, including any experience with: the certification of aircraft systems and industry certification requirements; flight control systems, electrical systems, and fire protection systems; safety-critical system development and verification for airborne systems; the full system safety development lifecycle for airborne systems; processing safety-critical systems through the complete lifecycle (safety requirements elicitation, analysis and development, safety architecture, and design and safety requirements verification); 14 CFR Part 25; developing tools and processes to ensure compliance with ARP4754 and ARP4761; reliability modeling and prediction; Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) processes and Root Cause Analysis (RCA); statistical analysis; and with Six Sigma tools. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field and thirteen years of experience, Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field and eleven years of the above-requested experience or a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field and nine years of the above-requested experience. Must have legal authority to work in the U.S. EEOE.
