Job Description

At Bavarian Nordic, our External Manufacturing (ExtMfg) team plays a vital role in delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality vaccines to patients worldwide. Working closely with a global network of contract manufacturing partners (CMOs), we ensure that every product meets the highest technical and regulatory standards.

We are seeking a Technical Specialist in Vaccine Manufacturing to strengthen this mission. In this role, you will bring deep technicalexpertiseto oversee vial filling, prefilled syringe operations, and final drug product assembly at our external partners, contributing directly to the consistency, safety, and quality of our vaccine supply.

The position is based in either Kvistgaard, Denmark, or Martinsried, Germany.

You willoperateat the intersection of technical operations, quality, and cross-functional collaboration, partnering with internal stakeholders and externalCMOsto troubleshoot challenges, enhance process robustness, and drive operational excellence across the network.

As part of External Manufacturing, you will act as a technical authority, ensuring robust, compliant, and efficient fill–finish and assembly operations—ultimately supportingour commitment to protecting global public health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight of vial filling and prefilled syringe (PFS) operations atCMOs, ensuring compliance with BN standards, GMP, and industry best practices

  • Review and approve batch records, deviations, and change controls tomaintainconsistent product quality and process reliability

  • Assess CMO readiness, including equipment qualification, aseptic performance, and process capability across routine manufacturing and tech transfers

  • Drive troubleshooting, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives within fill–finish and assembly operations

  • Act as the primary technical interface withCMOs, collaborating cross-functionally to support audits, inspections, and seamless execution

You will work closely with Quality, Supply Chain, Process Development, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure external manufacturing activities meet the highest standards of compliance, efficiency, and product integrity.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field, with experience in sterile manufacturing, biologics, or vaccine fill–finish operations

  • Solidexpertisein aseptic processing, cleanroom environments, and GMP compliance

  • Hands-on experience with vial filling, prefilled syringe (PFS) systems, and automated assembly lines, including visual inspection

  • Strong knowledge of deviation handling, root cause analysis, and process validation

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, equipment specifications, and regulatory requirements
