Hiring Unit:
Athletics & Recreation

Under the direction of the Head Coach - Swimming, the Technical Specialist - Assistant Coach Swimming will assist with tasks to ensure the success of the swimming program with weekly responsibilities, focusing on tasks that support the development of student-athletes, the team, and sport-specific support systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the coaches with the planning and execution of daily training sessions and home meets with the use of video analysis during practices and competition
  • Assist with meet preparation and execution, including warm-ups, race strategy, and post-race evaluation.
  • Record and track athlete performance data and competition results; maintain accurate statistics and performance metrics throughout the season.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement at the individual and team level prepare post-meet reports and summaries for the Head Coach. Assist with the preparation, organization, maintenance, and distribution of team equipment for practices and competitions.
  • Assist with scheduling practices and coaching at competitions.
  • Help with administrative tasks such as ordering and distribution of apparel and bathing suits and managing the team social media accounts as required.
  • Assist with individual student athlete development which includes technical, tactical and strategic skills
  • Support the coaching staff in implementing practice plans, competition strategies, and seasonal objectives.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of the sport (swimming)
  • Prior coaching experience at an elite/competitive level is considered an asset
  • Level II NCCP certification or equivalent
  • Expected to complete mandatory training/course including Safe Sport and CCES Anti-Doping
  • Able to commit to a flexible schedule
