Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY
AJAX®, Gemini®, and Superior® equipment run the Mid-Continent — and the operators who run it need a technical expert they can call on a first-name basis. Cooper Machinery Services is planting deeper roots in Oklahoma City, and we're looking for a Technical Specialist to be that expert: part engineer, part advisor, part advocate, standing shoulder to shoulder with our customers and our sales team from the first quote to the last bolt turned in the field.
This is a chance to shape a growing Cooper hub from the ground up, put nearly two centuries of engineering heritage behind your judgment calls, and become the name customers across the Oklahoma installed base trust when it matters most.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Coordinate sales activities for AJAX®, Gemini®, and Superior® opportunities — lead generation, prospecting, and customer follow-up — to keep sales cycles moving.
- Maintain accurate CRM records for Oklahoma City accounts, tracking pipeline status and every customer interaction.
- Support inside sales representatives in resolving customer issues and following up on open quotes and orders.
- Stay current on AJAX®, Gemini®, and Superior® product developments, industry trends, and competitor activity to sharpen proposals and customer conversations.
- Visit customer sites to qualify overhaul opportunities, walk the equipment, and pin down the bill of materials — including site-specific or custom parts.
- Prepare and support quotations for parts, service, and overhaul work alongside the sales and commercial teams.
- Provide hands-on technical expertise and answer field and customer questions on maintenance and operations.
- Support the Ask Cooper function for AJAX®, Gemini®, and Superior® equipment.
- Serve as the customer's advocate and field support for AJAX®, Gemini®, and Superior® projects across the Oklahoma City territory.
WHO YOU ARE
- High school diploma or GED with 10+ years of experience in sales, engineering, or commercial proposal development (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Expert knowledge of AJAX®, Gemini®, or Superior® engines and compressors.
- A relationship builder — you earn customer trust and keep it.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and sharp troubleshooting instincts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), CRM, and SAP.
- Committed to safety, customer service quality, and working as part of a team.
- Willing to travel up to 30% across the Oklahoma City service territory.
PREFERRED
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- A results-oriented, dependable teammate who's just as comfortable on a site walk as in a proposal review.
WHY JOIN US
- Most benefits are effective on your first day of employment — no waiting period.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Company-paid life, AD&D, short-term, and long-term disability coverage (6-month short-term disability waiting period).
- Voluntary life, AD&D, and long-term disability buy-up plans.
- Voluntary benefit plans including accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance.
- 401(k) with up to 5% company match — employees are 100% vested on Day 1.
- Maternity and parental leave, Arc Fertility Benefits, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental health support.
