The Technical Principal Consultant for Automation & Transformation is a senior technical authority within the Managed Services Organization, responsible for defining and evolving the monitoring architecture, alert correlation strategy, and integration of monitoring events with ITSM / ticketing platforms This role partners closely with Service Operations, SoMo optimization and transition, and Platform teams to ensure monitoring capabilities are scalable, intelligent, and tightly aligned to business outcomes.
The SME not only governs the current monitoring ecosystem, but also challenges existing architectures, proposes alternative solution designs, and leads transformation toward modern, automated, and event‑driven monitoring capabilities
The consultant will leverage deep expertise in automated workflows, scripting, RPA, AI‑assisted tooling, event automation, and especially with Solution Monitoring architecture and L3 maintenance. They will transform business processes using digital workflows, automated scripting, telemetry, and governance frameworks to increase efficiency, reduce operational cost, and drive intelligent decision-making
A Typical Day in the Life Includes:
Monitoring Architecture and Technical Ownership
- Own the end‑to‑end Solution Monitoring architecture, including data collection, enrichment, correlation, alerting, and ticket creation flows.
- Define reference architectures and design standards for monitoring across ERP, platform, integration, and cloud technologies.
- Evaluate and rationalize monitoring tools, agents, APIs, and data pipelines used across Managed Services.
- Design and implement advanced event correlation strategies to reduce noise and improve signal quality.
- Establish alert severity, thresholding, and suppression standards aligned to SLAs and operational priorities. Ensure that alerts are context‑rich, actionable, and mapped to clear remediation paths and work instructions.
- Lead integration design between monitoring platforms and ITSM / ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Ensure automated case creation, enrichment, prioritization, and lifecycle management of monitoring‑driven tickets
Automation Design & Engineering
- Develop automated scripts, workflows, and orchestration logic to digitize and streamline ERP support processes
- Build RPA solutions and integrate cognitive automation capabilities to eliminate repetitive tasks.
- Engineer self‑service capabilities and auto‑remediation workflows to reduce dependency on manual intervention.
- Implement automation for monitoring, alerting, health checks, and compliance validation across ERP environments.
- Create and maintain automation assets that integrate across ServiceNow, RPA platforms, monitoring tools, API integration and ERP systems.
Tooling, Observability & DevOps Integration
- Implement CI/CD and DevOps practices to automate build, test, and deployment pipelines
- Integrate automation with observability and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, Datadog/Dynatrace, ELK, Sumo Logic, and PagerDuty.
- Build automation frameworks supporting AI‑driven log analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive incident resolution.
- Converge and rationalize tooling across platforms to improve reliability, synergy, and operational cost.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a senior technical SME, influencing architecture decisions and automation strategy across the ERP Managed Services organization.
- Mentor automation engineers, transition team, and operations teams on best practices and reusable design patterns.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure automation solutions align with business goals and service delivery standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Enterprise Monitoring architecture and design
- Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, Shell scripting
- Monitoring & Observability: Splunk, Datadog/Dynatrace, ELK, Sumo Logic, PagerDuty, Monocle
- DevOps & CI/CD: GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, pipeline automation
- Hands‑on expertise with APIs, data ingestion pipelines, and system integrations.
- Experience with automated remediation, workflow orchestration, and integration patterns
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong progressive experience in technical engineering within solution monitoring, automation, and digital transformation.
- Proven hands-on experience designing and deploying automation across multiple platforms, including scripting and observability tools.
- Advanced expertise in end-to-end Solution Monitoring design, toolchain integration, and auto-remediation or predictive solutions.
- Solid background in managed services or ERP environments (Infor preferred).
- Experience translating operational runbooks into scalable automation frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead automation initiatives and influence architecture standards.
- Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional and global teams.
- Experience driving innovation, improving operational efficiency, and reducing costs through automation.
- Ability to act as a technical authority on monitoring strategy, tooling, and continuous improvement.
