Newlands Closure Project is looking for a motivated and experienced Technical Services Superintendent to join our Technical Services Team. Following the completion of coal production in February 2023, Newlands has entered an exciting new phase as we rehabilitate and progressively close a mine with more than forty years of operational history. As one of Queensland’s largest rehabilitation projects, we are focused on setting a high standard for safe, practical and sustainable mine closure.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Technical Services Superintendent will provide leadership across technical planning, civil design, project delivery and quality assurance activities.
You will be a practical and collaborative leader who is equally comfortable developing long-term plans, reviewing technical designs and working with operational teams to solve construction challenges in the field.
You will bring a strong focus on people leadership, engineering quality and disciplined project delivery, with the ability to balance technical requirements, constructability, cost, schedule and rehabilitation outcomes.
This role provides an opportunity to play a key leadership role in one of Queensland’s most significant mine rehabilitation and closure projects and to help shape how large-scale rehabilitation is planned, designed and delivered.
Our local township of Glenden is located approximately one and three-quarter hours from Mackay and only three hours from the beautiful Whitsundays. Our workforce comprises people from all over Queensland. Whether your home is near or far, Newlands has something for you.
