Job Description

The Technical Services Project Specialist is responsible for providing technical guidance and project support for complex customized product solutions. This includes coordinating between various engineering and manufacturing groups to ensure that the custom request is clearly articulated, priced, and produced. They will be required to provide consulting support for technical questions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consulting support to our dealers on product customization and specification.
  • Review special orders with appropriate teams.
  • Coordinate special design reviews for complex multi-facility customized products.
  • Enter special pricing requests for direct business and complex specials.
  • Provide structure and guidance to our dealers when entering special requests.
  • Escalate technical concerns. (Pricing, drawings, Bill of Material, prototype).
  • Overall review of the solution and technical information for accuracy.
  • Maintain an ongoing knowledge database of common custom requests and solutions.
  • Provide oversight and risk mitigation for complex projects.
  • Coordinate special product reviews.
  • Request and review mockups and proof of concept.
  • Recommend and support order previews.
  • Create and maintain a detailed schedule for the customization activities.
  • Coordinate and maintain regular project status meetings and minutes.
  • Identify and mitigate risks with respect to customized products and finishes. Ensure effective action plans are in place.
  • Provide weekly and monthly status reports. Provides volume of workload and key challenges.
  • Liaising with the Dealer/Customer to develop a project timeline that satisfies the customer’s requirements and is consistent with Teknion’s customization and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Communicate and expedite special request activities (pricing, drawings, Bill of Material) to meet RFP deadlines.
  • Review lead-times and highlight long lead-time items. Provide consulting and escalation support to manage any timelines not in line with the project.
  • Identify and implement a process to engage the technical service team for support.
  • Manage and maintain standards for global clients.
  • Consistently follows EHS general rules and procedures and is aware of the EHS policy.
  • Demonstrates good initiative for working safely, reporting, and participating in EHS.

Qualifications:

  • University or college degree in technical field with 2+ years related experience
  • Contract furniture experience is desirable.
  • Experience with client relations
  • General understanding of manufacturing operations
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent conflict mediation and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of specification tools is desirable
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.

The expected base salary range for this existing position is $58,000 - $72,500. Final base salary offers will reflect an assessment of the selected candidate's skills, demonstrated competencies, and adherence to our internal pay equity framework
