Job Description

Sherwin-Williams South Africa is looking for a Technical Service Representative to support our Metal Packaging Coatings customers in Gauteng. The role will provide technical service, practical training and general support to customers with respect to packaging coatings. A large focus of this position will relate to technical problem solving, practical onsite training and customer coating facility & operation evaluations & improvement initiatives.

  • Responds to questions and concerns from the customer regarding product lines and general operations; operates under general supervision and involves complex situations that require basic project management to resolve situations.

  • Provides technical direction and assistance to customers on the use of product lines; serves as an expert with working knowledge of multiple technologies across the various segments and may involve multiple sites.

  • Supports installations and troubleshooting at end user customers and provides training on product capabilities and key performance factors. Supports and facilitates online product evaluations and reporting.

  • Serves as an operational advisor to customers by applying general quality tools and analytical concepts to assist with improving product quality and efficiency; conducts general audits and improvement initiatives relating to customer paint facilities, equipment and processes etc.

  • Serves as a liaison with sales by interacting with line and management personnel, developing a complete understanding of needs and operations,supports the sales team with cost initiatives and business development.

  • Performs customer management activities by facilitating new or recurring orders, developing and maintaining strong customer relationships on various levels within the customer organization, , and resolving problems in conjunction with sales personnel.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Diploma/degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field

Undergraduate qualifications in metal packaging or coatings would be advantageous

Experience

Five years of experience in the packaging coatings industry

Experience with online audits, improvement initiatives and analytical assessments relating to metal packaging

Experience conducting training on coating capabilities as well as critical application and quality requirements.

Customer support and situational analysis related to customer escalations.
